I think Not andynaylor has said it all. The only hope is for these nations to be shamed and punished into being in the 21st century. When England had a hoolligan problem, teams were banned from Europe etc.

Therefore, if it can be proved that racist chanting happens by Polish/Ukraine fans, then those national teams should have points deducted and be banned from the next tournaments qualifying rounds.

Harsh, but not as harsh as banning all English clubs from Europe in the mid 80's

It should not have happened. BUT, it was always going to happen. They have not had to put up with Blair's nanny state, which allowed nobody to express anything but a PC opinion - unless it was to go to war over oil.

It was not that long ago that fans at the Goldstone produced blow-up Fyfes bananas for Justin Fashanu and found it hilarious when Stevie Piper knocked him out cold. Imagine if it had been common knowledge that he was gay? We have moved on very quickly, we cannot expect former soviet block countries to be as tolerant as we have become over recent years. It will take time.

It any players actually walk off because of it, and ruin the tournament, they need to take a good hard look at themselves, as the bigots over there will have won.

There is no comparison! English fans, and scousers in particular, were directly responsible for people actually dieing. Name calling is no longer acceptable, but is not of the same magnitude as multiple deaths on the terraces. Punishing national teams is certainly not the answer. If anyone is to blame, it is UEFA for awarding them the tournament in the first place, when it was inevitable.

Chosing Poland and Ukraine for this is as big a joke as chosing Russia for the World Cup.

Only Western/Northern Europeans have the structure and culture to hold an event like this without causing problems.

UEFA are completely to blame.

Though UEFA have said that yesterdays incident at the Dutch training camp was NOT racial. So they must be telling the truth, right?

At the end of my tether
So, the first time that a nation's team trains in public - they are subject to ignorant racism. You are the coach. Do you -
a) do nothing but hide in the opposite corner and then moan about it later (as the Dutch did)..or
b) halt training and insist that the stands are cleared?

The latter course of action might have been more effective. It seems that public training should be stopped. I cannot see why they do it . Would you like an audience at a rehearsal or when the coach is telling you what-for?

Last game at the Goldstone, watch the banana's rain down after the sending off. We need to remember we have come along way in a short space of time. I really hope the same happens in Poland and other parts of the world.

I think the Racial chanting and abuse is going to be round all Tournament. If the Police and Stewards identify those responsible for doing it, and do something about it. Then hopefully the Tournament can be a success, but if they don't then all hell could be caused with plenty of black Players and teams walking off the pitch.

It will only be spoiled if some over-sensitive players react. Surely they have enough brains to know the background to the whole situation over there? Oh, second thoughts, we are talking about your average footballers here aren't we?... ... ...

What difference does the 'background' make? Racism is racism. It should not be tolerated and people should not have to put up with it or ignore it.

It's the 21st century FFS.
