Please tell me who would know the answer to that without having to google it?

Just guessed it may have come up in one of the numerous articles over the past months about the subject and someone on here may well have remembered. If not the exact number then some examples of ones they know of off the top of their head. The folk of NSC know EVERYTHING

In London village.
Have you been to Poland? Your opinion is absolute bollocks.

I've been to Poland numerous times and have friends who live there.

Bigotry in Poland is more likely to be anti-semitic than on the grounds of skin colour but as others have pointed out it only takes a relatively small number of people to tarnish a nation's reputation. Hopefully the Polish authorities will have the sense to stamp on this before it gets out of hand.

Personally I'm glad the tournament is there. Without the tournament no one would be confronting the racism that exists there... at least it's now got coverage, and hence you would hope the governments of those countries may try to address it.

I wonder how bad the racism would have been if everyone wasn't focussing on it.
My guess is still pretty bad, esp as one incident is one to many.
But I may well have been a lot more marginalised, now a la our hooligans from the dark ages, they have a point to prove.
So are turning up at training sessions.

I have found myself almost wanting something to happen like players/teams walking off and matches being abandoned to force the issue to be confronted by UEFA. I know that's wrong and should nothing happen at all I'll be delighted, but then UEFA would come out all self righteous after having stuck their heads in the sand and ignoring the issue

FIVE HUNDRED FANS???
I'd imagined the odd few doing it and the media over-reacting, but 500 out of the 3000 people attending must have been so loud.

You can defend the countries all you like and of course the majority of the population are no doubt good people, but they need to be sent a message that you cannot tolerate behaviour like this if you want to move forward as a country.

It's true what Sol Campbell said. Until these two countries have proved that they've made a significant effort to stamp out racism and have actually showed some results, there's no way they should be awarded these championships.

I do kind of see your point. But this has been a problem for years in Poland and Ulkraine, I'd say if anything, drawing attention to it may actually help the situation rather than aggravate it.

I'm finding UEFA's increasingly pathetic responses far more irritating than the actual incidents. That's not to say that these incidents aren't appalling, but everyone knows the situation - Eastern Europeans are not especially racist BUT what problem they do have manifests itself at football matches where the problem is magnified as large numbers of complete twats go unchecked by the authorities. UEFA and the FAs of those countries need to put pressure on those governments to stamp out the problem, and they are clearly not doing that.

Couldn't have put it better myself. UEFA's ostrich impressions on this matter are making them look more ridiculous and out of touch than normal and magnifying the damage that these disgusting incidents are doing to the game and its image.

In the long term yes.
But how long has it taken to get our hooligan issues off the back pages, how much press incitement was there in the dark days.

Playing UEFA's flagship event, knowing this was a problem, and having the worlds media focussing on it, hopefully will force change. But there will be a hell of a lot of sh*t to wade through to get there.

How much of it will be press incitement?
Obviously it's not 'chicken and egg', we can all see the egg, but who's hatching it.

What annoys me is...

"The Netherlands will make no official complaint over the alleged racist abuse of players during an open training session in Poland.

The matter is now considered closed, the Dutch FA told BBC Sport.

Uefa also said it had no plans to investigate the allegations."

Why the hell not? So what if nothing comes from it, least you've gone down the correct route. Ridiculous.

Terry can't win on this one. Either he is going to be labelled a racist or a hypocrite. I do wish we'd left him at home. :nono:
I had that dodgy 'comedy' clip show, that was on ITV4 last night, about the downside of winning the Euro's.

One downside being the advertising we'd be bombarded with by the winning squad.

The fella from Shooting Stars said words to the effect of:-

John Terry will advertise...

Probably a load of bollox.

Ssn said the training session is invite only to the 3000 people. If true, can't see many of these doing such taunts

If there is racist abuse and chanting at a game, regardless of the supposed directive from UEFA to refs allowing them to abandon the game, I don't think for one minute that a ref would do this, however if the Team whose players have been abused decide to withdraw from the tournament, I would hope that any team with black players would follow suit, I know that this is complete supposition on my part but if that did happen, would UEFA continue with the tournament or abandon the whole thing ?....personally I reckon they would continue and let an Eastern European team win it.
