is that a attempt at humour?

This. Really feel the pain of the check-in staff who - up til 4th October revisions - were faced with having to check FIVE diff document (some on phone, some on paper) for every passenger before they even let you on to the plane home. Failure to do so (in the event that anybody was actually doing any checks at LGW, which they weren't) would in theory land their employer with a serious fine. Seems to me it's a system based entirely on fear and smoke and mirrors.
Taking the positives tho, it pretty much ensures your plane will be chav-free
Not convinced by this; Gatwick is still a carnival of horrors.
Not at the moment….it’s half empty (or less). Hardly any queue at check in, no queue at security, shops, cafes and bars loads of capacity and on return no wait for luggage and no queue for passport e-gate and no wait for car at meet and greet. It’s bloody BLISS compared with normal.
That’s been the huge travelling dividend, the silver lining, of the global travel restrictions and reticence.
Travelling through Gatwick in August 2020 … 10% full? London City this July, we were the only flight at that time of the day.
Loved it.
We also had an issue on our flight last week as some goon had left a lithium battery in their checked luggage. In normal times the 15 mins it took to offload the bag and passenger would have caused an hour or two delay as we waited for another slot. No drama at the moment though, straight on to the runway and off, and still landed on time.
Always going to be the case tho eh, you're never going to get 150 airplane passengers all fully aligned with every damn rule and every last bit of small print. Never realistically going to happen - unless those checks happen WAY before arriving at the airport
We are off to Tenerife on Thursday after 5 cancellations over 2 years. Still standing and Looking forward to a bit of incluido. Will watch the Norwich game in a local sports bar.
Good point.Something I’ve missed over the past 18 months or so is the does-anyone-know-a-bar-in-blah-blah-showing-the-game posts. Be sure to start such a thinly veiled show off look at me I’m on holiday thread later in the week.
Sent from my iPhone in Barcelona.
Good point.
I'm in the Bahamas ....no bars showing the game at 10am kick off Saturday I would suspect so brought the trusty firestick

Interesting.looks like potentially unvaccinated u18 will have isolate when going to USA
One point of clarity which the govt affairs team has been seeking today at the highest level is what the arrival requirements are for unvaccinated under 18s. The guidance at face value appears to suggest they will need to self-quarantine for 7 days and take a test 3-5 days after arrival. We should get clarity later this week. IATA, DfT and others have raised concerns with the US Govt directly.
In the meantime if asked about self-quarantine/arrival testing for unvaccinated under 18s please say: We are awaiting clarity from the US authorities on US arrival requirements for unvaccinated under 18s. We’ll update our US travel advice on the website as soon as we have this
Interesting.
Heard a rumour that chronomics pre flight tests won't be accepted ? The antigen tests you log the result via email rather than physically go to boots or test at the airport. Is that right ?
I'm guessing you guys probably don't know yet
