So far - a week skiing in Italy in February and Berlin for 4 days in March. Hoping to possibly go to Disneyland Paris end of January too.

I assume your doing Zion and Bryce, if so I'm extremely jealous as they are two of my favorite places in the world.

I am indeed. First time to southern Utah. Looks incredible if the guide books are to be believed. How did the landscape compare with Sedona ... obviously on a much larger scale. Any particular advice regarding what to do / not to do; accommodation?

Just booked a weeks skiiing in early March in Sauze d'Oulx, Italy. None of us have been there before so if anyone has, any info would be greatly received.

Went there probably 10 years ago now - very good skiing (part of the Milky Way - so you can ski to France) and night life is very good.

A week in Utah in May hiking the national parks in the south of the state (but no camping), driving (the great American road-trip), nice hotels, hopefully good food.

A week somewhere in the sun in March. Not yet decided where.

For Zion, we stayed at Cable Mountain Lodge which was great. It's the closest to being in the Park without actually being at the official park lodge. I understand the Cliff Rose next door is also good. Depending on how much time you have there just do as many of the walks as possible. Angels Landing is the famous and apparantly quite scary one but there is another that actually ends up higher and looking down on AL and the rest of the canyon. The town of Springdale pretty much exists solely for the purpose of the visiting tourists but its useful enough with stores, some good eateries and places to hire walking gear if you dont already have it. Damn it I want to go back now.

Had 3 weeks in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland last autumn, so unlikely to have a big hol this year (particularly as we are hopefully moving house).
Will be in Long Beach for a conference in April, so will spend a few extra days out there, and hopefully nip up to Oregan to see some friends. Will probably tag on a couple of days to any trips to Houston too. Extended camping trips to British GP and CLA Game Fair in July too.
The Mrs will probably do her couple of weeks volunteering on the whale/dolphin counting yacht trip up in the Hebrides.

Thank you. Very helpful. Really looking forward to it.

Last trip was Colorado, previous one Washington State and Oregon, prior to that Northern California. Love the US of A!

Two weeks in France in the Summer and a week in Devon at Easter now booked. Largest small Potting is desparate to visit the Isle of Wight so may do that during Jubilee week - will that count toward a pretentious 2 holidays abroad ??

Had a few mind changes, was going to be Poland for the Euro's, then Magaluf for the Euro's, then Ibiza at the end of July and now it's finally decided that we're doing Kavos at the end of July.

Might well go to Ibiza in September for the closing parties, if not then perhaps Amsterdam on the ferry for a couple of days!

That sounds chavtastic!

relatively busy year for me considering I havent got two ha'pennys to wipe me arse on, Dublin/Co Meath long weekend, Paddy's weekend, Dusseldorf, The Modfather's stag doo, end of March, Spoilt Git's outing to Euro Disneyfor a week duing the Euros and then Kos in September

So far week in San Francisco next month and two week in Florida in August

Make sure you BOOK Alcatraz, and do it first thing in the morning, when it's very much quieter.

Also, if you have a couple of days spare, take the Amtrak train to Yosemite National Park, well worth it.

We did a three week South West road trip a couple of years ago (Flew into Phoenix, then Sedona, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, Four Corners, Moab, Mexican Hat, Torrey, Bryce, Zion, Vegas and back to Phoenix.)

Best holiday EVER. If you need any help planning, let me know.

I've done Phoenix, Sedona, Grand Canyon and Vegas and hoping to do many of the others on this trip.

Thank you for the offer. Will PM you when I get further down the road with my planning.

I was really dissapointed with Grand Canyon, I don't know whether it was because I was based in Phoenix and it was a 5 hour drive each way? Perhaps the helicopter ride may have been better or approaching it from the other ridge?
