Still more sour grapes from McGhee, He still can't admit he made mistakes in his career.

The problems between CKR and McGhee, IMO was that McGhee is only used to having a certain types of players, mainly taller strikers like McCammon and Iwelumo, players that he could use as a target to hit a long ball upfield to, CKR had a different style to the one McGhee wanted, and McGhee couldn't adapt his preference in tactics to suit the type of player he had, the same issue that cause the problems with Leon Knight.

McGhee is also an authoritarian, no one can question his tactics or decisions , if anyone does, then they have to be shown the door as he can't back down and doesn't forgive either.

CKR has moved on and done well for himself, so why can't McGhee congratulate him for that or even just acknoledge what he has done, rather than just take any opportunity to slate him.

I do not understand why McGhee is seen as a godlike manager on here, despite matches being poor and the constant knocking of his own squad. would he have been as negative about Zamora when he started out at this club if he had played under McGhee?

One of the current team made similar comments about MM's personal tolerance and liking for a long ball game whilst having dinner at our house during the close season two years ago.

Robbie Keane is not that type of player at all and he rated McGhee very highly as a manager as the man who gave him his chance at Wolves (?).

McGhee, as far as I'm aware only used the long ball tactic at Brighton and most of his teams have played the ball on the ground. I could of course be wrong.

We would never have stayed in the Championship in the 1st season trying to play good football with the calibre of players we could attract.

This is where the argument over whether McGhee was a good manager or not stems from. I disagree, we would still have had a very good chance of staying up by playing better quality football, rather than long ball. We almost managed it when Steve Coppell took over belatedly, and we looked a threat to other teams when we played a passing game before McGhee took over with the same players and changed to long ball, and struggled (just clinging to a play-off place, having dropped league positions under his guidence) would we have even made those play-offs if he had been in charge the whole of that season.

Had he been able to work with the players he had and get the best out of them, like Coppell had done then we could have gone up and survived comfortably.

I also think McGhee's pr skills and constant criticism of his players would surely have put off transfer trargets thinking to join us, not the fact we were playing at Withdean, the recent success we had in terms of championships and the publicity of Zamora's spell with us and how it led to a premiership move for him should have helped to convince potential signings to join, yet they didn't join despite agreeing fees for players, the board had previously been able to persuade players to join and Wilkins managed to bring in good players during his spell but McGhee struggled to get new signings

So why did McGhee only use that tactic while in charge of the Albion and not elsewhere, unless he didn't rate / trust / believe in the players he had as good enough to play passing football? (something that they managed to play under previous managers)

Maybe this is where the dissent arose from some players, players who had been used to and preferred a passing style which we had when they joined the Albion and lost when he was in charge, and i say it again, his authoritive style mean't that when players questioned his tactics, he deemed them unmanagable and forced them out.
