Emile Heskey is looking for a new club after being told he will not be offered a new contract at Aston Villa.

The 34-year-old former Liverpool and England striker admits a move back to his first club, Championship side Leicester City, could interest him.

"There's a possibility that might happen. I'm not going to turn anything down," he said. "I'll look at anything.

"I haven't got a club to be honest. There are no contract talks so I'll be looking elsewhere," he told BBC Sport.

"Obviously, my contract is up, so I just take it day by day and see what crops up."

So do you think Gus will approach him? Yay or Nay?

Possibly, but the old chestnut 'wages' will probably crop up! Would Gus take a gamble?

I saw the other day that we may offer Robbie Blake a chance to prove his fitness along with West Ham and another club I have forgotten (one of the dailies, very small piece)

If we can't afford Marney's wages, then we can't definitely can't afford Heskey's.

How many times does this have to be explained.

Because TB/Gus didn't want to pay x for Marney doesn't mean they won't pay x y & z for A.N. Other.

How do you know what he'll be demanding?

Different players, different people, differing levels of wealth already accrued. While some players desperately hang on to life at the biggest club possible, with the biggest wage packet they can get, for the longest time possible, even if it means a squad role, watching from the stands every week, others just want to continue PLAYING as long as they can. There have been some big Premiership wage earners who have dropped down - presumably taking a big pay cut - to prolong their careers, and because they justw ant to play, and not sit on teh sidelines watching as their career slowly washes away into retirement.

If Emile is the former, then he's off radar, as someone will offer him a wage we can't match, as he'll be a solid plan b, emergency cover for a Prem side. But if he wants to play every week, be the focal point of a teams play again, and accepts dropping down a division, taking a big pay cut, is what it takes to do it, then he would be a FANTASTIC signing.

It's gotta be worth a call to find out. Don't get me wrong, it's unlikely, very unlikely, but there's nothing to lose by expressing our interest to his agent.

I reckon if we want him we can afford him, however I am not sure Gus would want him.

I reckon we will sign only one big money striker this summer, and not sure that Heskey is what we are looking for.

Not a chance but you'd have to be mental to think he wouldn't add massively to what we have up front at the moment.

Not what we need? EXACTLY what we need imo. We are way too lightweight up front at the moment.

The criteria for any potential new signing has to be would they improve the squad/team? In this hypothetical case, the only possible answer is an overhwelming yes. Very experienced, he's played at the highest level, is brilliant at holding up the ball & bringing in the second striker/other players and is a strong as a bull who defenders hate playing against. Ok, he's not the 20 goal a season striker we need and may not have the guile of a Kevin Phillips but he'd still be a great signing for the Albion. Very unlikely I'd have thought but you never know.

Not to mention the obvious.

There's no way he's the right foil for Drogba.
