Not long now until Sue Barker will be issuing those immortal words as the nation goes tennis potty again for a fortnight with the All England Championships.

This year myself and Mrs Crodo along with our good friends Polly and Giles have been lucky enough to acquire tickets to Court 1 on Tuesday. I've heard the atmosphere is electric and unprecedented in all sport, should be an absolute hoot.

:O

With Andy Murray in doubles only this year hopefully we will see a lot more doubles action on TV as its a much better watch than singles. We had court 1 last year, crickey it was hot on that court, have Centre this year on Tuesday.

Sheesh.....a fortnight of saturated coverage from the Beeb on all channels. Just what we need.

ONly a few hours now until Sue is on centre uttering her immortal words.

Order of Play today.....

Centre Court (1pm)

(1) Novak Djokovic (Ser) v Philipp Kohlschreiber (Ger)

Yulia Putintseva (Kaz) v (2) Naomi Osaka (Jpn)

(30) Kyle Edmund (Gbr) v Jaume Munar (Spa)

Court 1 (1pm)

(7) Simona Halep (Rom) v Aliaksandra Sasnovich (Blr)

Jiri Vesely (Cze) v (6) Alexander Zverev (Ger)

Venus Williams (USA) v Cori Gauff (USA)

The atmosphere will be absolutely electric/deafening on Centre for the reigning champion and the home town hero. Looks a really entertaining day today on the show courts.

I've worked there in the past and on the first day I felt bad strolling to the media entrance past the long queues of dedicated fans when I didn't particularly like tennis. Now I do all I can to avoid it. If people think footballers are self-absorbed narcissists, they should meet some top tennis players.

Ahhh, Wimbles.

Hoards of podgy rosy-cheeked middle class housewives taking a break from Mumsnet to go on their annual jolly with Imogen and Cressida from the bridge club, spending the day quaffing Pimms, collapsing into hysterics if a PIGEON lands on the court, then strumming themselves senseless when Cliff takes his seat.

Summer has officially arrived.

Love Wimbledon, it is so English and there are always some great games. Knocks spots off all the other Grand Slam tournaments for me. Tennis should be played on grass, end of imo. Far more respectful crowd too.

Call me old fashioned (I am) but I love how everyone has to play in whites too.
