Being a proud Irishman (and Brighton fan), more than anything I'm just completely gutted, I didnt give us 2 hopes of getting anything from tonight. We were the better team for 3/4's of the tie and am pissed of with henry and the lino in equal proportion!!!
If I'm being totally honest I think that the media hype around england is what brings about such ill feeling from the surrounding british isles countries, it seems as tho england has agod given right to think they should win every comp they enters irrelevant of when they have won it last.

Not taking away how cheated you feel, been there with Maradona, but can you not differentiate our press from our fans? The English NEVER expect to win. We expect to lose in a heroic QF/SF battle every time. And I seriously doubt the illl-feeling is to do with our press but more for historic reasons. Thing is, though that in recent times I'd say that the support the English showed to our Celtic neighbours now seems to be developing into an indifference.
It's certainly how I feel about it.

Pork pie land.
It's Ireland. Why the f*** are people getting so upset about this?

I totally agree with you! It was one of those games were you wish neither side could win, but as one side had to, I am glad it is France. At least they will play more than hoof-ball at the Finals.

I never want the bog-trotters to win anything.

Reading the Teletext comment pages was just sooo funny this morning with all the Irish Scum from Liverpool, Manchester, Corby (big Celtic following), and Ireland (north and south) etc. just so upset. At least one guy from Ireland had the decency to thank English fans for their support, saying we was surprized because they always support the other team when England play, and now he knows how we all felt about Maradonna's handball.

:lol::lol::lol::lol: Which team out of the other bunch of losers are EVER likely to win anything? Even Celtic want to become English and join the Premiership!:lol::lol::lol:

I bet most Irish praise Maradona for what he did to England. It doesn't make cheating right, but, as it's Ireland (and I live nearer Paris than Dublin) + am sick to death of Irish going on to me about hating English (and me) because of History (even though I could be of Irish descent with English Accent, how do they know?). Fu_ck them. I hope it stings really bad.

Also I think he probably did it on instinct and not (at the time it happended) to deliberately cheat, so.... Having said that Vaa Vaa vooom...

Yeah well I'm Irish and an Albion fan and I don't think Maradona is a god. He cheated you out of the World Cup in 86 and is a disgrace (as his recent behaviour as manager again demonstrates).

Who gives a shit?

This is the Irish remember, Maradona is their God, HENRY IS MINE.

i don`t know why but i have always had a soft spot for ireland.
however this is not the reason i am a bit pissed off about this, the main reason that has annoyed me is i hate seeing cheats win, an that is what happened last night.

I wouldn't have minded which country went through last night but that goes down as a black day for football.

Imagine if Tiger Woods had one putt to win The Open, accidentally touched his ball, kept quiet then sank the putt - golf would be rocked to its core.

Yet, Henry - one of the biggest 5 globals football stars in the world - blatantly cheats, gets away with it and the incident is over in a matter of hours.

I think it wil take a World Cup Final being decided in similar fashion before decisive action is taken.

As for Henry, the masses will forgive and forget but for the connoisseur he's blotted his copybook forever. Fair play to Richard Dunne after the final whistle - if that (unt had come over to me I would have told him to f*** off.

Exactly - it's not part of the UK so what's the problem? .

What on earth has that got to do with it?? Scotland IS part of the UK [more's the pity] and it WOULD have been funny if it had happened to THEM.
