Oh good, now we have three FOREIGN flappers instead of one TRIED and TESTED English keeper.
What is wrong with Big Dave Beasant coming back

Whilst FDM is an excellent shot stopper, his distribution is slow and his kicking accuracy is appaling. I know for a fact that when managers are looking to sign keepers and have them scouted, the question of distribution and accuracy ranks very high on the list of questions, as does command of the area and the ability to marshall the defence. (Managers expect goalies to be able to dive around and save shots) Henderson wins hands down here. If we sign Henderson I really think it is curtains for Michelle - he will either be sold or go out on loan for the rest of the season.

Of that list, the only thing Henderson is better than FDM at is distribution...

I really doubt £20k would make a difference between us signing the striker we need or not. If it was, I'm sure the club would find it. I suspect we're being priced out of strikers by at least a hundred thousand pounds probably much more.

£35k if we survive... and you cannot possibly know if that amount would make a difference or not... I think it could...

Spot on mate.

No-one is denying that FDM is great at pulling off saves, but he never instructs the defence. All I ever hear him shout is 'AWAY'. I never hear him directing the defence.

His kicking was better against leeds, but he never releases the ball quickly enough to sping counter attacks. Henderson does.

Granted the Henderson has not dealt brilliantly with a couple of direct blasts at him, but as chappers points out, these will be worked out by Keeley. FDM will never be a confident kicker, not dreat at distgribution. He's had years to work on this, and it's just not part of his game.

I would expect him to be gone before the start of next season.

FDM does direct the defence, and commands his area very well... suggest you get your hearing checked, and stop slagging off a player who has been a legend for us over many, many seasons...

Very true. Good shot-stoppers aren't enough at this level or above - they may excel at lower levels, but distribution is a huge part of the game now. Look at any top keeper and you'll see them land their kicks on their target's head virtually every time - Kuipers can't match that.

So distribution is the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of a keeper's game... utter, utter BOLLOX...

Not slagging him off. Read the post.

I don't hear hime giving advice. Anyone can shout Away, Away.
What I want to hear is him warning the defnece of players running down their blind-side, etc, etc.

Aslso, just because he's been here a long time, doesn't mean he can't be criticised. I want the best for the team, and happen to think the Henderson is a better keeper than Kuipers. My opinion, not a slagging off. Big difference.....

haven't read all this thread but we don't need Henderson + we don't need to spend money on henderson. Kuipers will be just fine . we all know what we need

What is this fascination with Kuipers? People on here talk like he's the best keeper on god's green earth.

because he's been consistently good when he's played .

Henderson started average and then turned good for final few games......this doesn't mean he's better than a keeper who's done it for several years . far from it

But then Kuipers injury record does make him something of a liability.

When was the last time he was available for a full season?
