Seems the club never gets it right for some people.

We have no money but seize the opportunity to sign a decent goalkeeper who will, in the future, either earn us good money in the transfer market or be our regular keeper. Either way we are winners for not an awful lot of money. Remember Currie and the good bit of business that was? This could be a much better investment.

Keeping an eye on the future is essential-especially in consideration of our recent past. Remember when we didn't appear to have a future?

What is this-miserable fecking Wednesday?

Ok then, turning that argument on its head,....are we now in the business of speculate to accumulate?

MM has said Turi, Robbinson and CKR are all one for the future....at this rate we will have a fabulous side in 2009.

Assuming we have finite funds, we are in desparate need of decent midfielders to cover for Charlie and a decent goalscorer to convert the chances our wingers are making week after week, I personally do not feel it necessary to blow any cash we have on someone who IMHO is no better than the two keepers we have here at the moment. Yes Shaggy is supposed to be going back, BUT if required, he may ( we dont know) be able to stay on. If we have a keeper who Everton are keen to sign, then what the hell are we worrying about keepers for?

If Henderson does eventually come, I would have thought these days Villa will put a sell on clause on him. It seems most deals have this.

I am not being negative, I just think that the priority this year is not a keeper.

However if Hendo comes and he saves us from relegation, then i will be the first one to raise a glass at the REMF game to MM and tell him what a wonderful signing he made.

Covering all bases there Mr Gaffer, nice.

Priority should always be with signing quality players. We ahve the opportunity to and it should be taken. We should not be in the business of signing players just because they play in a certain position, not even at this time. I'd rather we signed a keeper of proven quality (that we've seen) than a striker that might not be up to standard.

I am in 2 minds about this... whilst I recognise that Henderson is a good goalie, a great investment, etc. etc., I also believe the number 1 priority (by far) is for us to sign a striker who can score at least a reasonable number of goals at Championship level...

My question to DK and MM would be... "Does this inhibit the chances of our signing the striker MM has repeatedly said we need?"... I think the honest answer would be "Yes"...

Anyway, I do hope that Henderson signs, but I would be extremely disappointed if he signs AND plays at Sheff U on Sat... the FDM is definitely worth his place, IMHO...

If you do finally sign, welcome aboard Wayne, and very well done Dick and Mark... :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

How about a striker that we have scouted and we believe is up to standard?...

There clearly isn't one at the moment though. We're out scouting in europe to find players and one may not arise so sign the keeper before we lose out on him. Plus we're not exactly breaking the bank to sign Henderson and there may be a fair amount left to sign another player or two.

IMHO as soon as Henderson signs the deal with Rushden will go ahead for MK and we will use Flo until the end of season and we will either use Sullivan or bring in another keeper during the summer ready for next year.

Christ sake.

It's not all about a striker. It's the overall team. If we can tighten up and stop conceding so many goals, then we may turn more of our draws into wins.

I'm not going to check the stats of our performances with/without Henderson, but I would guess we conceded more goals per game without him. (waits to be shot down....:lolol: ).

Also, it doesn't take long for players of the future to become players of the present. Go back 2 months and El-Abd was nowhere, now he's established and playing well. Same applies to Hammond, Virgo, Hinsh. All got established fairly quickly.

Hmmm... not that convinced... Henderson's fee plus wages, plus a now possible agent's fee MUST inhibit the chances of us signing the striker we need right now... the FDM is a great keeper... keeper position NOT our priority... surely you agree with that?...

I sincerely hope you are very wrong... the FDM is far too good for Rushden, who are in big trouble... he should be playing for us in the Championship...

Agree with all of that except that the FDM is at least as good as Henderson, IMHO... see my earlier post for my reasons...

A good striker is a priority, yes, but I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't sign Hendo if there is a chance that we might sign a good striker. A good striker has been a priority at this club since Zammo left.

I don't think anyone should argue with this. Of course we need a striker more but this looks like a very good piece of business. £20k for him is an absolute steal. We paid £25k for the useless Walton remember, 5 ,6 years ago? We know Henderson is a good young keeper who will only get better with time. In the summer the French loan keeper will return to France leaving us with two excellent keepers to fight it out. Competition for places is always good. In the meantime, we know we've got cover if one of our keepers gets injured.

Fair point... but I still think we're fcuked if we don't sign a good striker, Henderson or no Henderson...

These are all good points, but you are just ignoring the fact that much-needed funds for the striker we need are being diverted into the Henderson deal...

I really doubt £20k would make a difference between us signing the striker we need or not. If it was, I'm sure the club would find it. I suspect we're being priced out of strikers by at least a hundred thousand pounds probably much more.

Whilst FDM is an excellent shot stopper, his distribution is slow and his kicking accuracy is appaling. I know for a fact that when managers are looking to sign keepers and have them scouted, the question of distribution and accuracy ranks very high on the list of questions, as does command of the area and the ability to marshall the defence. (Managers expect goalies to be able to dive around and save shots) Henderson wins hands down here. If we sign Henderson I really think it is curtains for Michelle - he will either be sold or go out on loan for the rest of the season.

Looked like Kuiper's kicking had signifcantly improved on Saturday with just one duff kick. Plus don't forget that the defence knows and trusts Kuipers. I think signing Henderson is a good thing but don't underestimate nor forget what a good goalie Michel Kuipers has been for us. We should hang onto him if we can so that in one position at least, we're very, very strong.

You're probably quite correct. Looks as if a loan move might be the answer...
