Sorry there is no other way to describe it.

I'm a postie.
I'm not happy with either the management or the Union, not trusting either, and feed up with both sides 'playground' antics.

I supported the strike 2 years ago, as it was clear to me, what we were trying to save. That decision was fudged making all a bit grey now.
I didn't work last Friday, my own tiny stand against RM, for what it was worth.

But now I don't feel like I can justify continuing to support the action so in the morning, I will have to cross a picket line made up of my colleagues.

It's not going to be pretty, sure some are to$$ers who I don't care about, but others are decent people, whom I would never wish to annoy (even a palarse fan).

I feel really crap about being put in this postion by 2 sides who obviously don't care about me, cos they are too involved in there own little war game.

If I were a postie I would be doing exactly the same thing, crossing the picket line. Striking isn't the way to get anything changed, nor improved. The truth is that the company will look a lot more favourably on you in future for having the bottle and respect to cross the picket line and work as you're expected to.

In my opinion, Royal Mail are doing nothing wrong. They employ ALOT of people and pay them what I consider to be a good wage. You know the job when you take it and you know the pay and conditions aswell, if you don't like it then don't do the job. And if you don't like what the job has "become" then maybe you've been there too long and should consider a change?! There are ALOT of people who are desperate to get a job, and a postal job is one of the most secure out there and does pay rather well for what you're actually doing. If I were Royal Mail I'd swing the axe and have a "don't want to work? Fine, you're fired" policy, and get new people in. Obviously, they'd rather not have to do that because it means a financial outlay (new uniforms and whatnot) and it means training alot of new people at the same time... but if it comes to it then I think they should.

Award yourself a bonus on RM's behalf. Just don't send the cheque in the post.

If it'll get me my copy of Football Manager 2010 sooner, then cross that darned picket line!

Perhaps you should try to avoid having such strong views on a subject you obviously know f*** all about ( not to mention the many employment laws your advocating royal mail break). Iwont go into details as its been done to death on here but you are either uninformed or misinformed & have spouted enough ignorance of the reasons of the strike to reveal yourself as a bit of a prick.

To stat brother, if you feel it's right for you to cross the picket just cross it. Every postie has the right to make up their own mind based on their own opinion & circumstance, dont let anyone intimidate you.

Quite agree with some of this actually - Clinton did the same with the air traffic controllers in the USA didn't he ? They went out on strike - he said "Sod you lot then" sacked them all and brought in people who did want to work. Brutal but effective - I would jump at the chance of a postman's job

With all due respect you aren't really old enough to have an opinion like that, unless you've just finished a degree in Industrial Relations.

Back to the question in hand, you need to do what you think is right.

My union (which in reality wouldn't organise a strike these days) had a strong opinion on something recently that I 100% disagreed with.

F**k it, do what YOU think is right NOT what others tell you.

Unions have it all because they create a bullying mentality of THOU SHALT NOT CROSS THAT LINE ... until,THOU has to pay a mortgage and then I guess THOU is on their F**KING OWN.

If you feel you should strike, sstrike, if you wnat to work WORK

To me I can't see why you would be on strike.

Can you put on some sort of disguise so they don't recognise you as you cross the line?

You could dress up as a large letter and get someone to post you across the line......

Sorry...shit joke. I'm a bit pissed.

Bit of a no win situation really, damned if you do, damned if you don't. Still just think about RM's bonuses to management before making your final decision.
