Either way, I’m going with the theory which is very evidence based, that there is a crisis. We can’t use fossil fuels and other resources, destroy natural habitats for farming etc without consequences.

No you are a ****ing idiot who’s grasps of physics and chemistry appears to be very limited. Interestingly much of the physics and chemistry used by environmental scientist is the same physics and chemistry that allows you to access the internet on your phone or PC. Physics and chemistry doesn’t allow you to pick and choose based on personal opinion, it doesn’t give two ****s for what you think.

I think you'll find some people have got a lot of power and wealth out of creating and perpetuating this climate crisis, and they continue to profit from climate change denial

As you say, you don't know if there is a climate crisis or not. No one really 'knows'. You have to read and listen to what's in front of you (or if you are a scientist/expert look at and try and understand that data) and as you have also said independently think whether there is (or maybe is), or is not.

Some people can get a ****load of power and wealth through a perceived climate crisis, and some people can get a ****load of power and wealth through denial/scepticism of a climate crisis.

As a layman, and someone who cant possible know for certain on their own merits, you have to make a choice either way.

I'd say the trick is to try to understand the messenger, what they want to tell you and their purposes and agendas. Question everything, particularly if there is some global urge to make you believe something or make you think in a particular way.



There's evidence for anything you want evidence for. If you want to believe the new ice age is coming, you'll find evidence if you want it, if you want to believe we're all going to burn to death, there's evidence for it.

An ice age is coming on the geological clock. Humans (understandably) cannot get their heads around the 24 hour clock - especially in the digital age. Climate change is a fact for our planet. It’s just about how our species will cope with it.

Quite. I appreciate most people are on the South coast but me and you aren't so probably have a different perspective (Nr Birmingham for the rest of you). The Brighton forecast is 28/29 so is a nice warm, what's the fuss about, summers day and it always feels a bit lower by the sea. Here, it's 37 degrees at 18:00 this evening with nothing in the way of breeze.

It's Portugal / Spain heat in English buildings. Kids at school in South facing glass buildings with no air con won't have much fun today. Whilst it's only 2 days, it's clear this will only get worse in years to come. That infrastructure debate may turn up here sooner than a lot of people think.

Totally mate - Our house will be in the sun today from about 7:30am until about 19:30, it just does not cool down during these hot spells, our bedroom won't go below 25c until some point on Wednesday. Last night I was watching the outdoor temperature fall rapidly after about 9:30 from 26 down to about 19 by 11, bedroom didn't drop a jot, stuck at 25.5, it was down to about 23.5 this morning. We stuck the tent up in the garden and slept there, quite pleasant actually but obviously not practical or possible for everyone. There's not a breath of wind here, despite being completely exposed, remote and > 700 feet up, it goes absolutely still when the sun comes out.....

Quite sad that some people in easier circumstances or different countries will poke fun at or try and mock what people are experiencing.

The only pathetic things I'm reading are people who 'have lived abroad' telling us how much better it is there. I recall being in Rome in February a few years back, it snowed. It doesn't normally snow in Rome so guess what? I watched people falling over & prangs on the road, it was carnage, only for about an hour but it was amazing to watch. In July 2021, 243 people died in floods across Europe including 196 in Germany - Pah, a bit of rain, get over it. Special alerts are in place right now in Portugal, France, Spain etc.

People and countries cope when the weather is on the margins of what they are used to, not when it goes beyond those margins.

4 lanes of near stationary traffic.
All engines running.
Approximately 150 people.
A few thousand people packed into comparatively narrow footpath.
