Well done to the Argus, the only section of the media to get it right.

The headline is YES (ish)
and sub-headline is

Prescott orders reopening of stadium enquiry.

It says he has not come down in favour of the stadium, but crucially, he has not ruled out the plan.

A third inspector will preside over the hearing.

It was written by Adam Trimmingham, Rowan Dore and Brendan Montague, the first two I know are senior reporters.

Good work by The Argus.

The report also mentions (as we know) that although the delay is frustrating, it is likely to circumvent a potentially lengthy and far more expensive judicial review.

Rowan Dore is a particually good journo. He deals in facts...then opinions.

Rowan is an Albion fan - I know his son and Ive actually used Rowans season ticket at Withdean before.... its good to have him on the case and not that TWAT Naylor.

You know Joe to then? And although he has a soft spot for Brighton, he is indeed a Chelsea fan.

Well done the Argus:clap:

I am disgusted with the crap coming out of local radio stations though. I guess it shows that the Argus is most definitely still on our side.

Southern FM coverage

To be fair to Richard Lindfield, I don't know how much editorial input he has at Southern FM. I imagine he just reads what is put in front of him by the production team - he's an Albion fan through and through whether you agree with his comments in the Leader or not, I can't imagine for one minute he'd deliberately mis-inform Albion fans regarding Falmer.

Why the mock surprise? Since Hoile's report The Argus has been 100% behind the Falmer campaign.

As for Andy Naylor, he tends to just report on football-related matters. You barely see his name at all through the summer.

thank god. "The Argus has been 100% behind the Falmer campaign." I don't think that's very true.

Absolutely, he does not report on stadium issues and in fact, if memory serves, I don't think he covered the play-off final either.

I think the Argus handling of Falmer has been brilliant and this proves it. They got the headline right.

Falmer verdict: Wait and see

by our news team

Brighton and Hove Albion fans will have to wait more agonising months for the final verdict on whether there should be a community stadium at Falmer.

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has delivered his long-awaited decision following last year's lengthy public inquiry into the scheme. Wait and see.

Mr Prescott and his advisers have been chewing over what to do after the inquiry inspector John Collyer ruled against the stadium at Village Way North.

This followed an earlier rejection by another inspector, Charles Hoile, who rejected the site in an inquiry into the Brighton and Hove Local Plan.

He decided that the only major doubt over the club's case was whether enough thought had been given to the other sites that could be considered for the stadium.

Mr Prescott has ordered the reopening of the inquiry which will be presided over by another independent inspector.

The only point of issue at this inquiry, which will last a much shorter time, will be Falmer against any alternatives.

Sites which have been considered in the past include Shoreham Harbour, land next to Brighton Station, Sheepcote Valley in Brighton, Waterhall Valley in Brighton, Coral's Greyhound Stadium in Hove, Withdean Stadium in Brighton and Toad's Hole Valley in Hove.

These six sites will be put up against Falmer to see which is the best one for the stadium.

biscuit, you seem to have missed the crucial 'since hoille's report' from the beginning of that quote.

safeway is right with his actual statement of 'since hoille's report, the argus has been 100% behind the Falmer campaign'.

That was editing that the nimbys would have been proud of!

Interviewed on SCR one of the chief nimbys was asked why he thought the report was a red light for the Albion. His response was 'Well I havn't read the report' classic journelism.
