Local Stoke-on Trent school headteacher,of Birches head high school has banned staff and pupils from displaying car flags or the cross of St George,during the build up and playing in the world cup. The reason given,St George,s flag is linked to the Bnp. www,thisisstaffordshire.co.uk

Ah, the first story of the banning of the St George during the world cup. As regular as the first banning of the word Christmas at, er, Winterval, sorry, Christmas.

I'm no PC, sandal wearing, lentil eating, leftie but these stories are clearly designed to capture the imagination of the lazy & stoopid. There will always be one twat that bans the national flag.

Sorry Hannibal. Karen Healy Headteacher at Birches Head high school in S-on-T. Has banned any use of The Cross of St George. This has hit the fan up here big time,and it is not 'Lets give the p/c brigade a good kicking'.It has caused genuine anger and disgust. I'm not saying its right, I'm just saying there's always one. It also makes a good story for a local paper as it will provoke reaction. Like this thread will get over 50 replies.

In the US you cannot legally buy a Confederate Flag because right wing groups have adopted it as their symbol (poor old Dukes of Hazard).

People with Rebel tattoos have been sacked (even if they were covered) as they were branded racists without any reason other than their tattoo.

PC Madness is not unique to this country. People in the Southern States are deeply proud of heir heritage (face it few Americans have much of their own to start with) and the Confederate Flag is considered a symbol of their roots whether they are racists or not. (Racism in the US is not the preserve of Southern Rednecks).

All this sort of thing does is make people who were hither to not bothered take an interest and focuses their views more often than not in a negative way.

Absolutely right. It was always the Union flag with the BNP, hence the name British National Party. To be honest the PC brigade are probably over-reacting because of their own inner demons. This head in Stoke is a suppressed racist.
