If Lynch had the attitude of the likes of Hawkins and Virgo he'd walk this division. Shame Hawkins hasnt got the abililty to match his attitude, though, I wouldnt write him off as far as you have.
I don't like to pick on individuals but his can't-be-dropped status is a key factor in the club's plummet. Have we had any worse central defenders in the Withdean era?

What did he supposedly do wrong today?

He was the best defender on show today. Some people just look for scapegoats.

I watched the game today and I have to say Hawkins did fine. I have not been over impressed with him this season though. Like all managers coming into a club they bring their own players in and subsequently they seem to be in the team come rain or shine. This has been one of Adam's failures at times this year, persisting with the likes of Hawkins (and Virgo in midfield - either centre or wide right). However, Adams is a good manager and we should continue to back the current regime, if we were to get promotion in the next couple of years I'll settle for that.

If I was Joel Lynch I would do exactly the same thing. His treatment is a joke. We could have sold Lynch for over a million this time last year... now he'll go to Forest for peanuts

Why exactly is his treatment a joke?
Injured pre-season so missed many of the friendlies. Hawkins started ahead of him and the defence let in 2 in 6 games.
He then hands in transfer request.
How exactly has he been badly treated? Had he not thrown his toys out of the pram he would be in the team at the moment.

As for Hawkins yes he has been poor recently (possibly due to his injury) but to single him out after yesterday is ludicrous scapegoating in the extreme.

Hawkins played well today, on the ground too. There is a culture in football of repeating what you've heard some bloke say really loudly in the boozer. Say what you see.

He May Occasionally Put A Foot Wrong

Hes A Good Player

To be fair I thought that one silly challange aside where he bundled into the back of their player he had a good game. He won his headers, showed a good bit of pace in the first half to cover when Richards went missing, and actualy brought the ball out of defence rather than just lumping it a la Virgo.

Hawkins played well yesterday but then Hereford didnt off er a lot of problems as they were appalling. Our defensive problems are down to Whing who is not the player we signed from Coventry, now he misses his tackles is slow and his distribution is very poor.

At best Hawkins was very average yesterday. In general he is a disappointment. I long for a Simon Morgan type character to play alongside Elphick.

did you post that in the heat of the moment, or do you really believe that?

Hawkinks and Virgo appear to be undroppable ( I assume Virgo has it in his contract) therefore Lynch was never going to get a look in.

I for one dont blame him for looking at pastures new....I would in his position

why is it that Hawkins always plays average against the poor teams but put him against players that can actually play football and he is found wanting?

YES!!!

Joe Dolan and Darren Carr off the top of my head!
Granted. That's a fair shout.

For the Hawkins apologists, I think we haven't had a defender who loses the player he's meant to be marking so often since Derek Allan.
El Abd had to cover his mistakes yesterday.
And we're losing a talented young player like Lynch for him.
Takes me back to the day when Barry Lloyd prefered Tiltman to Dean Saunders.

I wonder if you could do a straw poll amongst the players about Lynch and his attitude what the answer would be. Would they agree with him that he has been treated unfairly or would they disagree. Unfortunately we will never know.
