Always makes my heart sink when this thread pops up. Another well loved furry friend has gone over the rainbow bridge. You did the right thing. Sleep well Blue
Beautiful cat indeed and what a kind faceWe had to have our beautiful 20yr old cat Blue put down on Sunday. She had taken a turn for the worse 10 days ago, but kept eating, was getting up on the top of the cat tower, and was pretty alert still, despite being really frail & losing loads of weight. On Saturday she started messing in random places, then on Sunday AM she messed herself completely in the bathroom. We couldn't let her carry on like that, so it broke our hearts to take her to the vets. We let her have a wander round in the sun for a while before we left, and you could almost see that she knew...and was taking a final look around.
For the last few days we had hoped she would just fall asleep in her favourite spot on the sofa, but it wasn't meant to be. We both bawled our eyes out as she went to sleep, but it was very quick and peaceful.
For two decades she would greet me at the door when I got home, would curl up against me on the sofa every time I sat down, and sleep alongside me in bed every night. She literally was my shadow. Im going to miss her SO much but, despite knowing it was the kindest thing to do, I feel so guilty at taking her life away so suddenly - even though the vet said she probably only had a few days left anyway. Cant stop crying. Our other cat Willow keeps walking around trying to find her big sister too, which is heartbreaking to see....

Maybe in time there will be a blue shaped hole ready to be filled by another lucky feline friend and Willow can get a new brother/sister.Thank you guys...appreciated. She really was a legend. Very feisty in her early days, but settled down and became the most gentle, chilled out soul. Didn't take any sh1t from the other cats mind you, and she was definitely the matriarch, but they both loved her to bits.
This is how she used to fall asleep next to me, on the sofa...always holding my hand Damn, Im gonna miss the old girl.

We anticipated Blue wouldn't be around for long as she was so old, and got Maple 7 months ago. Shes an absolute bombshell, and her and Willow are constantly playing and wrestling together. When we lost our first cat Poppy, Blue was on her own for 3 months and went into a real funk...so we got Willow, 7 years ago now.Maybe in time there will be a blue shaped hole ready to be filled by another lucky feline friend and Willow can get a new brother/sister.
I bloody love cats and she is beautiful
What a beautiful Rabbit. I am sorry to hear of your lossMy beautiful little girl Flopsy lost the fight earlier this month and my wife saw her in agony on the table in the vets View attachment 191462and took the decision while I was at work. I say she lost the fight but Rabbits don’t have any fight when they get ill, they let themselves go very quickly, she had a good life and reached her life expectancy. It’s very much about cats and dogs (I’ve got a dog so I get it) but I still miss her as only this morning I went to talk to her like I do when I’m on a 5a.m start and everyone else is asleep.
I feel for you FP but you absolutely did the right thing - no guilt. In time you will just have happy memories of her and a little piece of you heart will belong to Blue. It should be comforting that she loved you as much as you did herWe had to have our beautiful 20yr old cat Blue put down on Sunday. Agreed. We had to have our beautiful boy put to sleep while we were away last year which was heartbreaking. The vet said talk to him as he will hear your voice right to the last second - doing that on facetime was devastating but a small crumb of comfortStay with the animal to the end, hearing is the last sense that goes.
