Here we are again, summer’s just ended.

I’ve just been out-voted and we have the central heating on “to take the chill off the air”.

A bit ridiculous, it’s early September and 20c in the house (prior to the rads coming on). Morally too, not good for climate warming.

Growing up in the 70’s, I would guess that my Dad didn’t have the heating on until the second half of October.

What on earth was this new fangled heating thing ?

When I grew up in the 70s, we used to light the fire

Windows open 24/7...enough room for the apparently considerably larger current vein of hairy arachnids to access the house and stomp across the floor.

I only started using a duvet about 2 weeks ago . . .windows still open. Rode to work this morning, 15 degrees outside at 7am, that is not central heating temperature.

Thread title update required to 2020 :).

And yes had it on for one day when we had that drop in temp at end of Aug, but not since then.

The missus switched it on a couple of days ago. I raised an eyebrow. Only 2 weeks since I last swam in the sea (Camber).

I've not turned mine off since last year as it sorts itself out and only comes on as and when required. The control system decided a couple of weeks back that some heat was required so I noticed the radiators getting warm, last night the household control system told me she was a bit cold at night so I upped the night temperature from 15 to 16 degrees.

She's a lucky woman.

Unlikely to PCB if HW still working..

Builders disturbed wiring . . .connection from controller was loose. checked everything over, reconnected wires, all working.

The old Worcester Bosch is a beatifully simple beast, runs a twin core heat exchanger so both systems are simple and seperate. I don't know if the PCB has separate circuits for each, but the operation is similar, but different obviously as the DHW doesn't have a pump.

Mrs Zef had the whole house like Calcutta within 20 minutes!

Ours is set to 18 for an hour in the morning and evening, otherwise the wood burners do the trick. Spent only £500 on oil in a year, pleased with that can get a bit chilly overnight though!
