One that is relevant on here was a reply from Bill Archer after I wrote asking why an man, wealthy and getting on in years would want to destroy a football club, I asked didn't he have any hobbies or anything he could enjoy filling his remaining days with after accumulating so much money, rather than something so negative as destroying a town's football club. The answer was all bullshit so clearly the sad ****er didn't.

Back in the 1960s I had a birthday card from a racing driver called John Surtees (my Dad was his accountant at the time and he sometimes came round to our house). Having absolutely no interest in motor racing, then or now, it was only quite recently that I found out he used to be quite famous!

I got one from David Ginola. I became obessed with the bloke during his Toon/Spurs days and used to write to him on his birthday (Jan 25th)

I then got a letter back and a signed photo - think that was his way of saying "now go away and leave me alone".

"Pen me back, truely yours, your biggest fan, this is Stan..."
