Brighton factually.....
Back in the bad old days

I got a signed letter from Archer telling me not to worry about Brighton and Hove Albion future and that it was all the local goverments fault blocking plans for a new stadium however everything was in hand and would be sorted..... !

At the same time.

I got a wonderful letter from Liam Brady thanking me for the continued support of the team and he was doing his best with what he had and he could not comment on the off field shenanigans...

Oh and one from Russ Abbott

My daughters went to school with Gerry Ryan's kids and they got him to send me a birthday card for one of my "milestone" birthdays - he was always one of my favourite players to watch in the '80's.

I got a couple of birthday cards and a get well soon card when I had my tonsils out from Adam Virgo, he used to be my favourite player and my mums friend knew him quite well.

I had a letter from David Bellotti, does that count?
I've had several of them.

I got one from Norman Baker once.
And more of them.

Mostly transport related, thanks to my job.

And phone calls - from the now Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor, asking me to move a bus shelter, so as not to interfere with a funeral. And a call from Lord Healey, asking if it would be OK to trim his hedge in Alfriston. I said 'yes' to both.

My prize personal letter was from Glenda Jackson, inviting me to join a transport advisory committee. I said 'yes' to that, as well.

A bad moment in my life was when BT realised that I spoke so frequently with Norman Baker on the phone that they suggested I add him to my 'Friends and Family' list. I said 'no' to that.

I once received a personal letter from Micky Adams on Leciester City notepaper in response to my letter wishing him the best of luck in his new job and thanking him for restoring our pride in our team. I also received a personal letter from Big Ron when I wrote thanking him for a great evenings entertainment at the Goldstone, watching us spend 90 minutes chasing shadows against Sheffield Wednesday. We lost 4:0 that night.

Over to you........

Ditto on the Micky Adams letter I also wrote to him when he went to Leicester and got a personal reply.

Not the same but I met William Shatner last Sunday I spoke to him about stuff, I had a picture taken with him, which he signed and on going we touched fists together, like a sort of mock punch.
I thought he seemed a genuinely good guy and was so laid back.

Did he fire you after you kept mis-spelling his surname?
