The year we went to Wembley against county, Me and my pals went to every away game and for some reason sat in with the home fans for most games ( Bristol City that year was murder) anyway, up at selhurst we played Charlton so as usual sat in with the home fans, roughly on the halfway line in the homesdale, ithink the albion went 1 up early nelson i think, anyway we all stood up to cheer, the only kicking we got was from the old bill in the stand and then we were marched up through the corner section next to the albion fans who thinkin we were charlton preceeded to put us thru a gauntlet of hate spitting, obceneties ect.:dunce:

I've had a few scrapes over the years, but don't think I've ever thrown a punch. A few got aimed at me at Pompey once, but I managed to avoid them all by jumping through a gate. My mates who went over the wall onto the pitch took several blows on the way.

Very close to getting mixed up in it at / against Palace, Charlton, Spurs and Leeds, amongst others.

Bloody glad it's not a big feature of a day out anymore.

Looking back on it it wasn't that serious, but could have been, But, we played palace at Selhurst around the late 70's before Sainsbury's redeveloped the North End of the ground. We go in early and the end filled up very quickly. Anyway about 35 mins before KO, a group of about 5 huge skinheads, boots/jeans/white shirts etc came in and didn't realise we were all from Brighton...one likely lad went across followed by most of the crowd and said something to the tune of..."you are not Brighton are you?", the skinhead said no and all hell broke loose.

The funny thing about it was they rushed down the front of the stand and tried to get on the pitch to get out of the way and the coppers kept pushing them back into the mob. It turned out that one of the coppers was an old mate from school who had joined the Met and it was his first football match.

At the time it was very funny to see, but as most people have said on here, thank God it has more or less gone away.

Earnest I remember that bus to the Station re Everton. That was mayhem

I got smacked in the mouth outside the Goldstone Ground after our final match there in March 1997. It was the day before my birthday and we got beat 0-2.

Terrific.

We didn't lose any home games from Xmas in 1997, and we won our last game there 1-0.

*whispers* Laughing Bluebird is in fact a Cardiff fan and when he says 'we' he means Cardiff.

Not really, but after a Palace match at the Goldstone on Boxing Day (1980 I think), there was a surge of Brighton fans trying to get to the Palace inside Hove station. My mate got knocked over, fell on a police dog, was bitten, then got nicked for threatening behaviour.

I had to go to court as a defence witness. Fortunately not guilty was the verdict.

i aint been involved, but my dad had some pretty nasty collisionsn with west ham's on the train in the 70's., and he was in the palace pub before the the scum versus brighton match. And someone shouted out brighton fans are in here and my dad got chased and jumped on the nearest bus. But one of my dad mates was very lucky he got his head smashed in by the scum.
:D :drink: Why was he in there in the first place. Terrible behaviour.
