north american soccer league team v chelsea in chicago
i think it was 2005 . Chelsea lost 1-0. Americans couldnt work out the travelling Chelsea supporters songs - the americans just sang U-S-A at 10 min intervals.

Thanks Greens :(
Hibs v. Airdrie 11/98

1-0 (Pataalinen 85)

(And co-incidentaly and randomly, a mate who I've known a fair few years was at the same match I later found out...)

Newcastle v Fulham circa 1973

MacDonald got two in a 2-1 IIRC

Stood on the Gallowgate

Apart from a trip to Hertha Berlin when I was a long weekend to Berlin, my only footballing experience on holiday was catching the semi-final of the All Ireland (Gaelic) Football Championship at Croke Park Dublin some time in the late 80s. It was quite a weird experience as a) I found it bizarre I could buy tickets for such a big game on the gate and b) I hadn't a clue as to the rules. I had no affiliation to either team (Meath and Mayo IIRC) but it was something worth doing

Drove from Andalucia to Barcelona to watch Man Utd beat Bayern in 1999. Took seven hours. My brother left Gatwick at 3 o'clock and was there in time for kick off.

Up your alley
Botafogo versus Fluminense - Maracana Stadium, Rio.

Touched the statue of Garrincha on the way in - supposed to
be good luck.

Must be recent statue, saw Flamengo v Corinthians there in mid 80s, with huge flags and rockets.

Also, Las Palmas v Real Madrid (from hill overlooking ground, could see only half the pitch) and Bournemouth v Luton as well as a match in a small Czech town, sorry unpronounceable.

Not so much holiday but on business I sometimes extend my trip a day or so to see some great football. Porto, Barcelona and Inter amongst some, well worth it.

1977 I was passing through Yugoslavia and saw the fist home match of FC Osijek v Hadjuk Split in Yugo 1st Division.

Osijek had just been promoted and virtually played on a park pitch. The sides were both Croatian and hated each other. I had to stand near the touchline with hundreds of others and only saw the ball when it was above head-height. The match finished 0-0, and then the crowd just hurtled out of the ground. If I had fallen over in the melee I wouldn't be here now, it was frightening.

Also saw Karlruhe SC lose to Hombug in Budesliga 2 in 1979 (boring) and the mighty Bayern beat Moenchengladbach 4-0 in 1985.

I turned down Barcelona vs Real Madrid tickets to go to Leicester away in 2005, think they got promoted to Premier League and Micky was in charge

If the MLS is on in October I may try and catch a game there

When I visited Finland for the first time I went to see a local derby, Ponistus v HJK. The weird thing was the match was sponsored by Fiskars and the first 200 people enetering the ground were given the option of a Fiskars pen or a pair of scissors !!!!!

About 9 years ago, while skiing I managed to get tickets for the Coppa Italia semi final between Juventus and Milan at Stadio delle Alpi. We drove down to Turin (about 1.5 hours) and watched Juve win 2-1.

However, the drive back up to the ski resort was through a full blizzard with visibility at about 10 metres. Five terrifying hours of mountain hairpins later i finally got to bed.

When on my Hols in the Gambia, I was taken by a local to the Banjul International Stadium.

We saw the Gambia beat Senegal 2-0 in an African Cup of Nations Qualifier.
