Cheers for that, lot of energy there, sound like a GRAND night out (get them on the Amex bandstand?)

'The Clash playing sea shanties' tag is a good 'un. Also sound vaguely Pogues-ish. Are they Oirish? Loving them already!

Youtube just kindly served me up THESE two excelente tracks:

They're probably a bit big for the grandstand (they sell out 1000-capacity venues), but I might suggest it.

Not from Ireland, no, but a little Pogues-ish, I guess. From Cleveland, Hastings etc. Formed in Greenwich.

Hastings band?

3 of the band members were together in The Alps, who were from Greenwich.
Skinny Lister were formed in London in 2009 having met through folk clubs in Greenwich.

No doubt this detail will be corrected

Spent a marvellous evening watching this band at St. Mary's in the Castle in Hastings on the recommendation of my son-in-law. They very much brought to mind the Pogues at their best. Oh, and one member did say it was nice to be "home" but I got the impression he wasn't speaking for everyone in the band.

Singer-songwriter Daniel and vocalist Lorna live in Hastings. Guitarist Sam was born in Hastings.

Aye, two members were already home. :)

I wish I liked folk music as they look great and have good energy about them but unfortunately their music just doesn’t grab me.
Just for once I wanna be one of the cool kids.

Not heard of this band before seeing this thread, but I've just been listening to the YouTube vids and I like them already.

Saw them a couple of years ago supporting Frank Turner. Great evening and one of those rare occasions when you don’t want the support band to go

Wow, this thread has got pedantic.

I've seen them play at Scala (capacity 1100+) - https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-...eart-and-the-fight-tour-october-a7375006.html

Their next London gig is at the Electric Ballroom (capacity 1500).

Not au fait with ticket sales/capacities across the country, admittedly.

Point remains: probably a bit big for a free bandstand performance at The Amex. *shrugs*

Continuing on the pedantic theme....I thought you only watch bands that don't exist yet?

Loved them for a few years and was gutted I couldn’t make the C2 gig last night.
Saw them at Sticky Mikes Frog Bar in Brighton about 3 years ago and it remains one of the best gigs I’ve seen!
Passing round a flagon of rum for everyone to drink at the gig is bloody great!

Ha. Didn't say only...

Hahaha fair enough.

Never heard of them....don't dislike them though. Like a less wanky version of Mumford and Sons. Is Lorna the Bez of the band or does she offer something not shown in the youtube vids (aside from eel eating skills......and a bit of eye candy)?

Yep - I saw them support Frank Turner at the Alexandra Palace gig in November 2015.

Thought they were great... big audience at the Ally Pally and they got the whole place going!
