I have a friend who hosts foreign students. This week she was told by the language school that they have cancelled some of her bookings due to the corona virus.

This.

Expecting potential central London office shutdown in next week or so and based on prior ‘test’ of VPN on one of our Business Continuity Plan Test days when it fell over expecting the worst this time round.

Oooh! That is why we as a company recommend everyone does a DR test at least twice a year.

In 25 years in the industry I am amazed that companies think they are all hunky dory, and the have a disaster like a CER room get flooded when the air con overflows and as they haven’t tested, or made plans , they crash and burn...or get cowboys to recover their systems at horrendous daily rates!

No. Other than June in accounts is wearing a mask at her desk. But this is fairly common.

Yes - the factories we buy from in China have (in many cases, not all) extended their CNY Holidays.

Some have returned, some have not - but there are now massive delays in getting vessels out of China as there is a huge backlog at the ports.

Air Freight costs have gone up 500%!

The factory we buy from in China hasn't been able to reopen since the end of their 2 week new year break .
Hasn't made a difference yet but will if can't replenish stocks by the 3rd week in March .

Massively.......our flights have been reduced to HongKong from London by 50% and connections into China Mainland by 90%. I work in the freight business so all a bit worrying.....we are hoping it comes back to normal by Apr/May time...but taking 3 weeks unpaid leave is not fun

I can’t grasp the logic in swerving Chinese restaurants, one of our clients had the worst Saturday in years last weekend.

We ordered some warehouse racking at the beginning of January, we have been advised that the factory in China is closed and the supplier has no idea on delivery dates, our till supplier is struggling to get parts for the tills we have.

Am i correct in thinking you have no one to delegate too?

That’s correct. Multi-tasking; dishwasher, laundry, some work and reading the relentless weekday NSC posts of Icy Gull and LamieRobertson who are also ‘working’.

The internet seems to be a skivers charter.

I think you contribute to NSC just as much too though

I've canceled a client's month long visit to Thailand for March and some other events around SE Asia - personally not traveling anywhere at the moment, no inclination to be in an International airport or sitting on a plane. My office is at home so can do quite OK from here

You are me...no doubt now!

I haven’t been to my “ office “ in Crawley for two years now!

We have a week booked in Madeira over Easter and so far it appear to be ok, but we are getting a sinking feeling that it may be cancelled.
