If Potter has fixed the defensive frailties?

Not really. Just like he is not really responsible for the lack of goals.

Its a team sport. About 30 players in the squad, bunch of coaches working with the first team players, bunch of people working to ensure that the players and staff are able to focus on their jobs and have a good work environment. Team wins, team loses, team scores, team concedes.

Stop being so ****ing sensible. It's getting on my tits.

:lolol:

Three goals conceded in five matches, and you say oh no he hasn't - that's plain bonkers.

He crossed the #Potterout rubicon a while back. The centrifugal forces of collapsing black-hole gravity have sucked his mind into the size of a small pea, and all he can now see is black, black, blackness. Ain't that so, neilbard?

So since the Wolves game we have played:

Newport County - Conceded
Man City - Conceded
Leeds - Clean sheet
Blackpool - Conceded
Fulham - Clean sheet

So no he hasn't

We won 3 of those games, drew another and only conceded 1 goal in any of them.

We lost 1-0 to Man City, but so far this PL season only Man U and Spurs have kept clean sheets against them.

Did Graham Potter shag your wife or something? You're just relentlessly miserable about him.

Three goals conceded in five matches, and you say oh no he hasn't - that's plain bonkers.

Okay let us put this into perspective, two of those games were against lower opposition, one was against quality,

Leeds was the highlight although they did look shite on the day, Fulham ffs they are below us, so get a grip Potter lovers, no win in 10 home games, bring on Roy Castle. :flounce:

Lovely video, great song, nice to see Grace in action when she was still very fanciable. So, thank you for that.

What's that got to do with you being a total wankpuffin and suggesting three goals conceded in five matches hasn't improved our goalkeeping situation?

So tetchy  OP suggests Potter has fixed our defensive frailties not just the keeper..

Potter has changed the keeper and things have improved. He deserves credit for doing that but given the amount of set piece goals we conceded before he dealt with it, then not too much credit.

Defence looking better, strikers starting to fanny about with it less.

If we can continue to improve and stick the ball in the net a bit more often then we could be in the verge of something really special. I think this is why the 'Potter In' brigade and the club are so.

As mentioned football is about fine margins and we are close to cracking this.

If we hold our nerve this experiment could still pay big dividends.

Yeah but are actual GA is 30% higher than xGA.
Which means we are conceding goals we shouldn't
Hence the discussion.

I'm squarely in the, "a lot of that was down to Maty" camp (great servant/bloke/keeper that he was for us.)

Not sure how we're performing against xGA with Sanchez, but I know I feel less nersous when a cross/shot comes in.

In 2 games less, Sanchez has made more saves, kept more clean sheets and conceded 9 goals less than Ryan.

It was a risk decision but it’s paid off massively.

You can tell it's helped the defence. We all sort of semi-mocked Ryan's height and lack of presence in the box, but it seems it was a bit of an issue once we started playing 3 at the back, and without Duffy.
It was a massive call from Potter.

Of course he has. He is the person who decided to put Sanchez in goal instead of Ryan. Thats his job he is there to make decisions like this. Sure he isn't making the saves but for every game he is the person who decides to put Sanchez in goal, at the moment its the right one.

Your right the team losses, team scores, team concedes but Potter isn't part of that team. Potter is the part of the coaching team and he is the person to make the decisions. If the team is conceding when they shouldn't be he has to find solutions to that problem. To his credit he has. If the team isn't scoring when it should be then he has to find solutions to that problem which he hasn't so far. He's restricted to those 30 players like you say but its his job to find solutions within those restraints.

I have some specialist movies that feature sloppy shooting.

That sounds interesting. Muddy pitch hey...............

I have some with big tackles in them, and watching, Stuart Pierce, winding in from the side.

This is something very special and should be watched on loop.

I think he asked GP to shag his wife and Graham turned him down.

So no he hasn't

Tottenham - clean sheet.

4 EPL games and just a single goal conceded to the most expensively assembled team in the sport.

Posted elsewhere but wanted to also post here. Apologies for the self indulgence:

- Liverpool’s XG against us 0.25
- Leeds XG against us their lowest in three seasons under Bielsa
- United had 6 shots against us
- Palace mustered one shot, a penalty
- City only scored one at the Etihad
- Spurs XG tonight 0.37

We are a VERY good side that takes games to teams and also stops them playing.

He took a gamble on Sanchez, but it's paid off. If it was to solve the dead ball defensive woes, it worked, but it's worked on so many more levels than that. You have a back three of Dunk, Webster and White, with Veltman able to come in, and Burn to offer a different option, then things can't bel that bad. The fact that of our three CB options, Dunk is the least likely to make it into an England squad says it all.
