I've got the incriminating podcast on my ipod right now, just listened again to the bit where JR says "He F...."

It's comedy gold.

This has been blown out of all proportion by the Daily Mail which hates the BBC and will run it down at any excuse. They are loving this and are playing it for all they can. The fact is the BBC only had 3 complaints before the Mail on Sunday/ Daily Mail ran the story. That's how many people were offended who actually listened to it at the time. Three people!

While that is certainly true about the Mail's vendetta, in this case they surely have a point and the Beeb have given them an open goal. It is very offensive and not funny, and how many complaints were received from listeners at the time is actually far less relevant than how offended Andrew Sachs and his daughter were when they heard/heard about the messages.

I'm also genuinely amazed those comments were allowed to go out from a pre-recorded Radio 2 show, presumably someone is in for a right rollocking in production/editorial.

Out of interest, do you still work for the Express?

Yes thats right, two blokes ringing up Manuel of Faulty Towers and telling him one of them had shagged his Grand-daughter is just as bad as the killing of thousands of innocent Jews including women and children.

Anyone who takes the rise out of ANY member of Fawlty Towers cast member, deserves to be punished.

Andrew Sachs is a lovely man, having seen many interviews with him, I don't think you could wish to meet a more quiet and gentle soul.

For two loud-mouthed ego monsters to take the piss out of him is frankly disgusting. Andrew Sachs has more talent in his left finger than that prick Russell Brand!

Excellent post which says it all for me.

Ross...... well, considering he is earning 6m a year he isn't very funny and isn't very clever either. Considering his job is based on "Spoken Word" broadcasting he's shortchanging us because he can only use 25 Letters of then conventional alphabet.

Brand..... Humankind throws up the odd genetic experiment from time to time and I fear he is just one such. Destined never to pass on his genes and highly liable to burn out within 5 years.

That is the most surprising thing - that it was pre-recorded and it still went out. I think you can assume the producer is in deep shit.
All those outraged people would have known nothing about it ( because they never listen to Russell Brand) other for the fact the Mail decided this was the most important story in the country which as you and I both know, is complete bollocks. But you're right - job done for the Mail and it'll be doubles all round at Associated tonight.

She descibes herself on her facebook sight as a SWINGER.

Probably no real need to approach her grandparents at all.
You can probably book direct.

My point entirely, unless you are Asian or from The Deep South in Banjo Land, you never make an approach for a suitable piece of totty via Gran'pa

For that alone the Woss/Bwand pairing should be run out of town like the dogs they are,

This thing is getting out of hand 10,000 complaints now, I bet most of those 10,000 werent even listening when it was broadcast.

It was funny, it offended Sachs, BUT, the show was PRE-RECORDED and did not have to be aired, so the BBC bosses cannot come down hard on Brand or Ross as they agreed to broadcast it.

Sachs said he didnt like it, yet the bosses still gave permission for the show to be put on air.

Harty was live on the air at the time, and made an off the cuff remarks, where as Brand and Ross was a sustained attack which was hilarious but pre recorded so could have been avoided

I think you're right Mendoza.

I don't really understand why the editorial team are in so much trouble. They played the incident, and it was obviously fairly well tailored humour to their listeners- as they only got 2 complaints (and those about the use of the F word apparently, rather than the actual phone calls). However it's the idiots at the Daily Mail that have actually caused all of the furore. I don't understand the mentality of people that complain about something that they didn't hear and that in no way involved them.

Brand and Ross have apologised to Sachs, that should be the end of it.
