It surprises me that there are long term supporters like Ian and Paul Samrah that are coming out with complaints which if you boil them down to their essence are summed up as 'We are not winning. We should be winning.'

For me, it doesn't sound so much as complaining about not winning.

I see a few other posts dissecting a lot of points in the article, I'd like to address the one about length.

I typically roll my eyes when people complain about having too much to read often thinking it says more about them than about the argument being made.

With this article specifically, there is a dialogue happening between the club and the fans, and fans are getting fed up with it. They're getting bored with hearing about FFP, and how unfair it is other teams have parachute payments, etc. They don't want Barber's programme notes to be about this every week for the rest of the season. If Barber gave a bare bones article on half a page, people would still keep questioning it. By writing a longer article he can more deeply cover the issues and hopefully reduce the need to re-tread the argument in the next programme, and the one after and after that.

Good GRIEF! Do you actually believe the thrupence-ha'penny travel sub has anything much to do with anything?

It may be a trifling amount for those living in the vicinity of Falmer, but for those further afield it's not that at all. From Worthing it would be about £6-7 per match. My WSU ticket works out at about £24 per match, so that would make the football part about £17-18. Under any circumstances I would consider that a very decent price. Another factor that I don't think anyone is considering when estimating the number of STHs that may not renew if we have a poor season/get relegated is the way that most of us pay for them. The monthly DD is truly a genius idea in that it becomes a regular outlay that people will budget for and will then be out of their mind. Of course there will be people whose financial situation will change - and a number of people determined to cancel - but I think this won't be anywhere near the numbers being quoted.

I am not impressed by Harty's article. It is still pretty early season given that we have a load of new players and a new manager. We are not, at least yet, in the relegation zone. The division is so competitive it should not come too much of a shock for us to be where we are and particularly given the loss of Ulloa. He lists a number of managers who are out of work and who have been failures (for whatever reason). To be honest there is no certainly that they would have achieved much better. We have had 4 successful seasons so perhaps it is no surprise that people have become rather conditioned to success and are quick to be critical rather than patient.

I didn't want to be appear to be racist or small minded but with the club on the cusp of a potential disaster I think someone from the UK would be best to rally the club both on and off the pitch.

Chris Hughton, Steve Clarke, Alan Curbishley, Tim Sherwood even Tony Pulis all out of work and exactly what we are looking for.

Fair point,however what did concern me from the start was his record at Bayer Leverkuson,was'nt something like 12 defeats out of the last 14 saw him getting the bullet ? This is absolutely the heart of the matter. Paul Barber gets three threads out of Bozza and three pages in the programme saying the moaners should be buying more pies and pints. Wouldn't our balance sheet look much healthier without these quoted lemons

There was one English manager who finished in the top ten of the Premier League last season. Alan Pardew, Newcastle United, 10th.

Five of the top six teams in the Championship last season were the bookies favourites before a ball had been kicked. QPR spent more money on transfer fees and wages than Champions League quarter finalists Bayer Leverkusen. We and Burnley were the only two teams that over-achieved to reach the top six last season.
