Yeah it was a strange atmosphere. More relief I would say. We’d not won anything and had so much more to do to save the club.
Haha, me too! I saw Maskell take that shot but couldn't see where it was heading and only realised that it had rebounded off of something - either the post or keeper - due to the fact that Albion attackers were suddenly all running towards the 6 yard box, but had no idea where it had rebounded to. Only knew we had scored due to net rippling, players reeling away in celebration and, obviously, everyone down in front of us going mental. Had no idea who actually put the rebound away until listening to the radio on the way home. The view was pretty crap for many of us as it was. If we'd crammed more in I wouldn't have seen the match at all - as it was I didn't see the ball hit the back of the net. Which is possibly why I have watched it so often since!
Every time I watch this I’m convinced Foster is going to score in last minute
Could you upload the MP3 of the goal?I've still got the audio recording of the match on cassette. I couldn't bear to listen live but played it through when I knew the result.
I'm sure the guy in the first photo is Alan who runs Across the Tracks in Sydney street, he is the one to right with black shirt and his hand on his chin. I'll show him when i see him next.View attachment 181744View attachment 181746
Some of my work mates there on the day - sadly most of these characters are no longer with us.
Our original old banger of a coach finally gave up somewhere around Dorking enroute when the gearbox blew up. Luckily a replacement was called out from a nearby firm and we continued on our way to the most stressful and unenjoyable 90 minutes of football I'm ever likely to experience.Lovely coconut chilli prawns in some open fronted bar in Cheltenham post match.
Tranquility ruined by the coach full of yobbos turning up at the pub next door in that old banger of a coach
My ex wife told me she no longer wanted to be with me on a Saturday morning; I went to watch an England World Cup qualifier in the afternoon. That day remains one of my happiest and most significant memories of a football match as a result. Going to Hereford in a similar scenario would've been like that level of nostalgia on steroids! My marriage of 20 years had gone wrong the week before and standing on the terraces I thought if I don't have a heart attack now I'll live forever, and so far.......................
Me too. the Len Weston Stand.Roughly where I was too
Yep.I was up there as well, just to the left and in with the Hereford fans. I reckon there were as many Brighton as Hereford in those seats.
Worth digitising it and maybe putting a link on NSC?I've still got the audio recording of the match on cassette. I couldn't bear to listen live but played it through when I knew the result.
Wasn't it just! (The Cattle Market afterwards)Complete Carnage would be a better description
Don’t really see the home sewn Union Flags anymore, several there that day, mine was on the middle fence. I think there was only one St George Cross, in the bottom photo on the right. My Union flag in the top stand, I was right at the back in line with it. View attachment 181791View attachment 181792
