Hammered by an average side say Barnsley

For a bit of balance (and for those who can't be arsed to read the Barnsley forum- it's in a dreadfully clunky format), it was only really one bloke who suggests we are "average". The rest gave us at least some credit.

And they're not comparing us to Barcelona, at least not in any sense other than "it's Brighton, not frigging Barcelona".

We'll see who is average as the season goes on, but Barnsley were absolutely shocking today, any team in the Championship would have easily beaten them I think.

No. Fact is we are good. They dicked Boro away. They are not mugs. But get used to it. We are a f***ing good side.

Barnsley beat Middlesbrough on the opening day which looked a good result on paper. They were poor yesterday no argument there but are obviously capable of beating decent championship teams on their day

When we get it together, we are a decent, top half side that will hopefully be challenging at the end of the season.

Unfortunately for them, Barnsley are relegation favourites for a reason, and were by some distance the worst side I've seen at the Amex.

But we can only beat what's in front of us. Middlesbrough couldn't do the same.

If we had carried on in the second half in the same vein we would have truly hammered them!

Not all the Barnsley comments put us down as a 'average' side. here's what their official report said...

I did think when we were 4-1 up that it was actually our worst performance so far this season, it's just our shots found the back of the net

Keith Hill said it could have been 10-1 so perhaps we are only average as we could only get 5.

My pre- match forecast was 8-0 to the Albion; then Khruschev couldn't save a penalty and we slackened off in the second half,so that,as the average side we are,we only just thrashed them.
