yep...entirely agree with you...the saints player in question came off the pitch close to where i was sitting and was having a larf and a joke with the physio and certainly wasn't in the state he claimed to be minutes earlier...but then our own el abd..made bit of a meal re the lambert thing.....as u say traits of a modern game

conollny the player who greer went all marlon king on. fell to floor clutching his face against forest for a elbow decision that was not deliberate then he got up and joined into the mass brawl

I wouldn't play El Abd at full back. He's had some shocking games there in the past. He came into his own once he started playing at centre back regularly. He's not a full back. Nice dilemma for Gus to have. I would leave Greer out until his opportunity arises again.

I thought Adam was pretty pukka against Southampton too.

It's threads like these that prove how well Poyet has done to build a squad together, and not just a first team of good players. In every single position we have players who can come into the squad and be more or less as effective as the player they replaced, and in most cases offer something completely different to the team as well. Each player has to fight for their place in the team as the know they could not only be dropped if they play badly, but be out of the starting line-up for sometime if their replacement does well.

Bridcutt and CMS are probably the only two players who are straight on the teamsheet, and deservedly so.

Play Greer in the centre of a back three, as he is best passer of the ball. With two wing backs and play Buckley in a free role just behind two strikers so he can roam from side to side...

Calderon-----------------------------------------------------Vincelot
--------------------Jfc-----------------Bridcutt----------------------
--------------------------------Buckley------------------------------

Some very good points there.

I like the look of that for sure.

We've just played one of the worst teams in this division. Even then they created two glorious chances that they failed to stick away. Therefore, some perspective on yesterday is required.

I'd be surprised if Greer went from being captain to the bench. I'd also be surprised if Dunk was dropped, as he's quality and will be a Prem player eventually.

I'd play El-Abd at left back. He's got something about him, a scrapper.

No left foot. He will never play left back! he's a centre half period. IMO

i actually think he was a tad unlucky to be sent off...it wasn't a deliberate act...and i believe greer has been one of out most consistent performers this season

A right arm smash in the neck/face off the ball..... hmmm... cant be deliberate surely! Just unlucky.

Perhaps if he had kicked his teeth in too it wouldnt have been deliberate. Perhaps just a little unlucky.

Being a captain is so much more than disciplinary matters though. It's easy to miss what he does in the team as so much of it is off the ball. But if you watch him for a few minutes when he hasn't got the ball, you see just how much he's doing in terms of organisation and communication of the defence and the whole team. He's constantly talking, especially to Dunk. Lewis said it himself that playing alongside Greer is a massive part of why he has come on so much this year.

One of our most underrated players and I never understand why. Very hard to drop him in my opinion, despite El-Abd and Dunk's performances.
This. Greer is absolute class every game, which we don't have too much of at present. In his play, leadership, distribution and organisation. He's had a massive part in bringing Dunk on this year :albion2:

That is a resonable call

Always easy to look solid at the back when the oppo only start attacking after 80mins. Having said that, i would leave greer out. doesnt win enough headers and can be a liability, as we have witnessed on more than 1 occassion. serves him right really.

This, plus his poor disciplinary record - needs a spell on the bench.

Yup and yup. Fight for your place GG :)

Greer has to come back in the side. He has been outstanding all season.

its a complete no brainer for me.

I would move El-Abd to the bench as he offers good versatility from there. Its a tough call but I would be staggered if Greer did not come straight back in.

Greer has been our best player all season, Dunk is fast becoming vital to the way we play. Greer and Dunk should get the nod

lol - i think i only saw it once or twice and just saw him stick his arm in his neck region. IMO you dont do that accidentally.
