I was at the Amex today for a tour and was told the stumbling block is the medical and to do with his ankle. They are trying to get it sorted and he still looks likely to sign but its all to do with being able to get him insured etc.

Fits with what I've heard. He's not going anywhere else if he's a big risk and we'll be negotiating a deal to minimise the risk to us.

Why would they so desperately want it announced? Its Lua Lua, not Jesus like some people seem to think. He will be confirmed when gus thinks it is right. Dont know why people are soo paranoid. If Gus is relaxed about the situation then its fine

Once again terry1, Well said sir:thumbsup:

Transfers take time, don't get all the panic? We have ages to sign him, Gus knows what he's doing. Him signing would be incredible though, a special talent.

I suffered exactly the same break as Lua Lua but about 4 weeks before him. The problem is that he had an orthopedic plate fitted to his fibula with screws. The fibula is the non weight bearing of the two and the most likely to break. The plate is designed to ensure the break heels correctly and that the tib and fib sit on the ankle joint correctly so as not to cause arthritis. The problem is (as i have found) running in football boots on harder ground is uncomfortable as the screws keep the fibula very rigid and actually detract from the movement (especially when turning and changing direction) the solution is to have the screws removed but the plate is left in because it has wealded to the bone during the healing process. The risk of having the pins removed however is that it does not fully ensure against arthritis in the ankle in the years to come as the ligaments and tendons would undoubtedly suffered some trauma to during the break and never fully heal or as in my case are actually pinned down as well. Broken legs ended careers for a reason For the record im 23 so my healing time would have been very similar to Kazengas.

From that can we assume Newcastle played him when he wasn't 100% or has it been aggravated since the games he played at the end of the season? Guess we'll never know.

The bit I like about this is that he was unfit and possibly a little crocker when Newcastle played him, yet he still skinned Ivanovic and whipped a dangerous ball in. Can't wait to see him blazing down the wing in front of the west stand.

And for what its worth, with the right medical assistance I would STILL sign him in an instant, quality player and great potential.

why waste money on someone who could "possibly" be a liability and become more injury prone. granted lua lua is quality....but the true extent of his injury seems worse than before.

To be fair, this is all rumour and hearsay. Let's see what Gus has to say tomorrow.

I'll just pop into my time machine, i'll let you know when I get back.

if you have got a time machine, then you need a punch from us all, as you could have nipped into next week last week and told us if KLL has signed and saved us all a load of sleepless nights!!
