Not selling McSmudger to Reading in January was a massive mistake,by then most of us could already see that he does not have the talent to play the passing game, the biggest problem Gus has is admitting his mistakes he just can`t do it.

Clearly only scoring 8 goals in 12 appearances this season is not good enough.

Cant believe how many threads we have had on the subject and it's becoming an obsession for some people.

I'm so glad NSC wasnt around when we sold Dean Saunders or Garry Nelson for peanuts in the 80s & 90s!

Ward To Forest?? That would have been apocalyptic if NSC had been around then!

is the op another secret palace troll i wonder? in any case just to put him right, it wasnt any mistake by gus that led to murray not signing a new contract. technically he didnt leave, his contract expired and he was a free agent, this is a key point since murray wanted a signing on fee due to being almost bankrupt and palace were offering one in the region of £285k, the albion wouldnt offer a fee and the wages were roughly the same so murray took palaces offer. its that simple really and clearly the club didnt feel paying murray a signing on fee or similar payment was worth it. ive had this confirmed by someone involved personally with the financial side of things so i trust the source.

Swapping Murray with CMS is his greatest achievement as our manager. If we had kept Murray he wouldn't have played much for us last season, he is best suited to a team who like to hit it long which Gus doesn't want to see. I'm glad he let him go as we have replaced with better players. Our difficulty has been not having enough quality to make the most of CMS and his abilities.

100% this , how many crosses did we put in against Peterborough verses the through ball which will allow CMS to destroy defences

His biggest mistake was not taking that Palace game at our place last year seriously enough. That still hurts.

Glad there's at least one person out there who agrees with me on that one. I instinctively put it in my top three worst football nights ever, and that would still be the case a year on.

Gus was bleating on about how impressed everyone was with our TV displays against Leeds and the Mickey Mousers, and it just wasn't important compared to Palace.

He didn't get it at all, still thought Southampton was the big one, and then everything about the performance and collapse, Murray's goal, cavorting Palace muppets behiond the goal, contributed to the catastrophe.

You are 100 per cent right, it does still hurt, and wil be an open wound until partially cleansed with either giving them a right gubbing, or the double, or both.

On the recruitment/release front, I'd agree that Murray is his only really big mistake.

What a great addition to this board you are going to be!

We need more posters who think their opinion is the only intelligent one but come across as being aged 12.

Ok let's clear his up as we have clearly got off on wrong foot . I made a logical and factual comment about CMS in response to someone who thinks CMS ( our top goal scorer and workhorse ) is not good enough . You responded with a Mo Farah comment which I felt had no real substance or input into the conversation. My comments are based on playing at semi pro level for over 10 years and managing at county level alongside having achieved my UEFA b coaching badge . This absolutely ,100 % gives me no added rights or makes my opinion the be all and all , but it frustrates me and I can't understand some of the ridiculous comments some so called BTN fans make on here re CMS. What more can a lone Striker do other than run himself to the ground every game and be top goal scorer ?? Not forgetting he does all that when 70 % of the time he is still getting the wrong type of service for his style of play, something which is improving and Gus is clearly trying to address but won't happen overnight .

His biggest mistake is not keeping Glenn Murray. We all knew what a good player he was and I do feel if Gus had put his foot down, we would have found it. Gus intimated that Murray might have stayed on less wages than Palace offered too. I just don't think the will to keep him was there.

Many thanks for that clarification on what happen with regards negotiations on keeping Murray at BHAFC back in the summer of 2011. I had a feeling there might be other financial implications involved. But surely a signing on fee of £285k would have been a small price to pay for his goal scoring record. But as we know hindsight is a wonderful thing.

You may well be correct, but I have to admit that the Mo remark did amuse me and made me chuckle a bit.
Hope I won't be berated for not taking things seriously enough!:lolol:

I think perhaps if Murray hadn't put in a couple of transfer requests, was a bit more consistent and wasn't such a moody bugger then we may have made more of an effort to keep him, as it was I think Gus put in a reasonable offer and wasn't prepared to be held to ransom with the signing on fee business so just let him go.

Today we celebrate Gus Poyet's three years with the Albion. During his three years of tenure he has obviously transformed the clubs fortunes & together the club is a very different animal to the one he join in November 2009.

I would say that he can on the whole only be congratulate for the success he's brought us, & be of so grateful for the new players he's managed to bring to the club. Who would have said back in October 2009 that would have the likes of Wayne Bridge, Vicente, Bruno, Kuszack, to name but a few, that these names would be playing for little old BHAFC by November 2012. NO ONE of course.

But his only one major mistake was not keeping Glen Murray with the club. Word has it we offer him £7,500 a week back in the summer of 2011, but our great enemy offer him £12,000 a week. Whether this was the case or not one think has been proved for no transfer money as Murray was out of contract Palace got him ridicurlously cheap & he has proved to be a massive lose. I'm sure now & again Gus must look back & think how many more goals would CMS have scored last season & this had Murray been holding the ball up for him in attack. Not to mention the amount of goals Murray would have scored himself. One thing Murray has always been is a goalscorer, he's done it in every League he's played in.

One thing is for certain, we wouldn't be still looking for that out & out goalscorer now had we kept him.
So many thanks Gus you are great & I'm sure you will continue to be so, but like all of us your not perfect. Lets hope by the end of the season we don't live to regret it & we see our great enemy take all the glory ???.

Mass suicide??

We could sign Mo Farah as our midfield workhorse?

He's no good at football but he would run around a lot. Ask him to recruit a load of his mates and then by your reckoning we could be top.

Don't think Mo would have scored that , lol
