I strongly disagree.

I wouldn't, sure the better team won, but we were utter shithouse for most of it, I could deal with losing knowing we'd given it a good go, but most of the team looked to be playing at about 70% of long, long stretches of the game.

Were they really a shambles (apart from the obvious)? Ipswich have premiership players in the Championship and the Leeds game we were equal to them. I see this more as an incentive to players rather than condemning them.

Not being able to string more than 3 passes together without certain midfielders *COUGH*dicker*COUGH* losing the ball needlessly is a shambles for a 2nd tier team.

I've had the pleasure of making every game so far, and the last 5 games have been poor with the exception of the 2nd halves against Liverpool and Leeds.

This. People need to simmer down a bit and let gus do his thang.

Agree lest we not forget we have lost our best two players from last season (Bennett & Judas) and its going to take time to adjust for new players and a much better standard of football week in, week out.

Palace was a very poor performance which has been blown out of all context simply because it was palace, if it was any other team it would have been forgotten by now. Losing away to Leicester and Ipswich is hardly a disaster and recovering from 2-0 down to Leeds was a great effort, even if it felt like a loss in the end.

Yes there are probably 1 or 2 players that might not be good enough at this level, but this isnt fantasy football or Man City, you cant simply go out and buy new players for every position just because we have lost a couple of games or realistically expect us to coast to the league title.

Gus will make changes but things take time and we are, afterall, still in the play off spots, to repeat PLAY OFF spot, the way people go on you would think we were bottom and pointless at this stage.

We are Brighton not Real Madrid

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
BBC Sport - Leicester 1-0 Brighton

22 shots to 7

BBC Sport - Brighton 1-3 Crystal Palace

5 shots to 10

and yes i went to both, Palace only seems worse because are our rivals, but could have been 2/3 up after first 20 mins.

Ferret has posted on here several times that the BBC uses Press Association stats which are notoriously wrong. I went to both too. I don't like blaming referees but on that occasion, the fact that the ref blew his whistle too soon for Painter's foul affected the rest of the game. Painter shouldn't have been sent off for 2 yellows and CMS won't let another shot like that go over the bar again this season 99 times out of 100 he would put it away. It was just one of those things but not a shambles as described.

It wasn't a shambles, but we WERE comprehensively outplayed for all but the first few minutes. Wilfried Zaha was our worst nightmare.

Also I think Bridcutt is not one of the 2/3 players because he has been out of position for a couple of goals - still our best Poyet signing though.

I doubt if we will be in the play-off spot when the Hull match kicks off.

Where will be in the table at 5:30 on 15 October 2011 ?

I agree, anything upto 7 starters need to be dropped long term if we want to get out of this league, but it seems like a crazy idea to do it right now unless he things the development squad is championship standard, because there isn't a whole lot of depth to this squad.

get out of this league.......which way are you looking , jesus wept guy.

The Championship.
I think Harley is playing quite well, he was the best player for us at Leicester when we got completely outplayed, the worst game I have seen us play all season.

Yes agree with most of this except Barnes is not a right winger so swap vicente with him and that looks prett-ay good to me.

Would have Dicker /Harley on the bench instead of Sparrow.

Carter - if offered a deal - in for Navarro

I must have been watching a different game, I thought he was awful at Leicester. Did no defensive work at all.

And thats where our main problem is. Bridcut is excellent but he is not happy just sitting in front of our back four, and that is what we need at the moment just to offer some protection. With so many attack minded players in the side you do need someone who is happy just to be destructive.
Our other problem is that the midfield is lop-sided and there is often not any midfield cover for one of the full backs. Painter is coming in for a lot of flack on here but it is often him that is left without any cover.

Think this is the perfect reason we need someone like Navarro in our midfeild consistently, he's the tough tackling man to give our midfield a bit of bite and can also cover for bridcutt when needed.

However I always thought it was Calderon who had no protection, we usually seem to play a left winger (noone) and then no one down the right to protect calderon (other than barnes playing slightly down the right). I have only been to home games, but from sitting in the west uppper I always seem to notice nooone helping out painter alot down the left, whereas Calde plays as a wing back with the whole channel to himself.
