A friend of mine who works at a sports agency (freelance reporting basically) based in Hammersmith was saying how many of the senior football reporters love Gus as he is always good for a quote. Whereas apparently with many more seasoned managers they are only really comfortable saying anything in press conferences which are fielded by a number of club media and PR representitives.

I have no idea how press conferences are run as never been to one but it does strike me that Poyet probably is a little more forthcoming and sometimes less judicious than many managers.

Having said that it';s just the same old story and a sympton of the football Premier league frenzy- listen to Talksport for a few days and apart from comments and pieces on actual games the majority of their topical conversations are just re-run stories doing the rounds and have been doing the rounds for weeks if not months.

He'll go this close season or certainly be gone by next if we haven't hit the Premiership by then. Relax, there are plenty of decent managers who can take us to our Premiership destiny whi will fall over themselves to come here!
Whilst this is true, how many of them have the same eye for a player and the personality to entice them to the Albion?

CMS - somehow beat off competition from Leicester and West Ham
Vicente - world class. Can't imagine many managers would have had the front to approach let alone get him in on Championship wages
AEA/Navarro - I reckon many high profile managers would have shipped these two out within a couple of months of arriving. Thank f*** Gus didn't and now look at the pair of them

Which is why, when Gus leaves, I really hope Bloom gives Taricco a chance.

Gus needs to achieve way more than he has done to make Chelsea or Spurs come knocking. He won't be going there anytime soon. However I can see his head being turned by a mid table Premier League club and I can also see one of them taking a punt. If we don't go up this season I can see him walking if an offer comes in, I'm pretty certain it won't be Spurs or Chelsea though.

Surely Brendan Rodgers would be way ahead of Gus if they wanted to get a new up and coming manager? Not only has he got a team promoted to the Premiership, he has got them to stay up playing great football. Achievements which outweigh anything Gus has achieved with us so far.
Club managers currently ahead of Gus in any short list:

Brendan Rogers
Paul Lambert
Nigel Adkins
Brian McDermott

This and then there are managers like David Moyes who have done wonders at Everton, but cannot take them further to do lack of cash.

Interviewers ask Gus a question, he answers it. The next interviewer asks Gus the same question, he answers it.

Manager's job opens up in the Championship/Premiership, Gus gets linked to it. Another interviewer asks Gus the same question, Gus again answers it. In the same way he always has.

So should we be worried? No. Nothing's changed.

This. He's always been honest about his ambitions and his answers haven't changed in the 2.5 years he's been with us.

Absolutely THIS.

Predictably the Palace fans are wetting themselves over it though...

Gus would probably be on a long list for the Spurs job, and maybe the Chelsea job. But not a shortlist. I'd be more worried about someone like Aston Villa realising they need a manager like Gus.

This is just him telling the truth, no manager outside of about ten clubs worldwide would turn those jobs down.

he is wanting to manage in the premiership and would prefer a club he has connections with ie Chelsea & Spurs
Does he have no connection with us?

chelsea nor tottenham will approach Gus. End of.
I'd imagine the likes of Chris Houghton would be ahead of Gus in the queue as well after what he did at Newcastle and Birmingham. There's no doubt Lord Gus will go on to manage a big club one day, but I'd be very surprised if he doesn't see out his 5 year contract with us.
