Son has just phoned me as his boss phoned him and told him that it was on the Richie Reynolds Breakfast Show that Gus said again over the weekend he is wanting to manage in the premiership and would prefer a club he has connections with ie Chelsea & Spurs is he touting for the job. Did anybody hear the interview on Bright? Also I know it is the rumour site but that says Curbishley is being lined up if Gus gets lured away. Am I getting worried about nothing !

If he goes he goes, we'll still get a decent manager. He's not the only person who can get us promoted

I'd be suprised if that is accurate, when we are in a play off spot, in our first season back in the Championship. Gus has always said this is 'his' project, and he would only consider leaving if the chairman doesn't back him, or if the club stopped progressing. Neither of this is happening and Gus is a man of his word.

Would Chelsea want a Poyet/Di Matteo dream team? Probably not. Are Spurs, who are likely to get a lot of compensation from the FA, going to go for a Championship manager, when trying to acheive Champions League football? Probably not.

Interviewers ask Gus a question, he answers it. The next interviewer asks Gus the same question, he answers it.

Manager's job opens up in the Championship/Premiership, Gus gets linked to it. Another interviewer asks Gus the same question, Gus again answers it. In the same way he always has.

So should we be worried? No. Nothing's changed.

He's had two great seasons and just won a decent award.

His stock is just about as high as it can be right now.

We miss out on promotion and then next season we have a crap time of it .. Championship is generally start again the next season and previous positions have little relevance .. what happens then is that he gets sucked into having the same reputation as every other Champs Manager and he may be missing out on his chance.

If he's ambitious then he'll want to take his chance when it comes along or he may not get another - bit like us and promotion this season. Saying that I'd put a fiver on him being with us next season

He's not touting for a job, the bloke just gives an honest answer when he's asked a question.

Journos know the answer to the question but they keep asking it because they can put a sensationalist "gus wants away" slant on it.

yesterday on BBC Sport Football gossip had a story by The People claiming Wolves wanted to dump TC & were still looking to get Gus or Freedman.

His stock is high however the wrong move and anything previous is wasted, just look what happened to Micky Adams.

Project Gus and Tony has only just begun.

Personally I reckon he'll be here a lot longer than many people reckon. I listen to his responses with an optimist's hat on, taking him on his word. That means two or possibly three more seasons with us, assuming Tony continues to support Gus in the way Gus is expecting to be supported (read money for players at the right time).

I do not believe that Gus will jump at the chance of another job just because he feels the chance might not come along again. He has enough confidence in his own abilities to not need to do that.

He'll go this close season or certainly be gone by next if we haven't hit the Premiership by then. Relax, there are plenty of decent managers who can take us to our Premiership destiny whi will fall over themselves to come here!

Surely Brendan Rodgers would be way ahead of Gus if they wanted to get a new up and coming manager? Not only has he got a team promoted to the Premiership, he has got them to stay up playing great football. Achievements which outweigh anything Gus has achieved with us so far.

Gus will be gone one day. He will be replaced by someone very good... no need to panic.

My hunch for what its worth - Gus will go to Villa in the summer after they get rid of McLeish and we will bring in the recently sacked Roberto Martinez.

Football managment is probably the most unstable job anybody can have , so ruling yourself out of potential vacancies at latter dates would be daft , what do people want him to say ? " No im never leaving Brighton " , get real .

Enjoy it while it lasts , the future will take care of itself.

Rodgers has distanced himself from the Chelsea job, said it would ruin his career if he got it now, and right he is. Like Gus he is young and look at the way they treat their managers, Chelsea especially!
