I think if we signed Kuqi then we would get the best out of Barnes because he knows he is slacking and he needs to prove a point and by us bringing in a few strikers it'll show Barnes that he needs to start playing or he won't be playing at all.

Either you are a complete idiot or you don't actually watch the game in front of you. To accuse Barnes of slacking is frankly imbecilic

Ditto, I couldnt believe on saturday how quick some fans have been to start havin a go at the poor boy. Peoples expectations of him have been far too high, I was really pleased we signed him and still am, I think hes a good squad addition, hes no zamora but who is? He scored a great goal against southampton last yr in just about his first appearance which was the best moment of last yrs home games for me, he scored a couple more after that, one a lovely curled shot and he finished a cracker last week, hes making a contribution, he himself stated on the podcast he and Gus are only expecting him to get into double figures i.e 10-12 goals and because of some twats in the team getting sent off or suspended we were forced away from home to play him early doors as a lone striker which he cant do. Hes a hard worker too, he tracks back and to use the word slacking is laughable.

As for Kuqi, my memory is bad but not so bad as not to remember what he did against us when he played for ipswich at home in that game we couldnt lose to stay up a few yrs ago, diving around to try and get a penalty when it was 1-1. The bloke`s a complete tosser and I for one wouldnt have him in a Brighton shirt ever, quite apart from the fact I think he`s complete shit and actually would have Barnes over him anyday, at least hes honest.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Ive seens Barnes 4 times since he has been at the club, and i think he has been very good in all of those games.
Cant see why he gets so much stick at all. Sure he may not be awesome but he is a good player, and im more than happy to have him in my squad. And more than happy to see him get in the starting 11.

100% agree.
Last night again, for me, proved that Barnes is'nt good enough to start. People can argue all they like, but im entitled to an opinion. Murray creates chances for Barnes, but i honestly dont think Barnes creates anything for Murray. If Barnes is a player who feeds off Murray, well he needs to be clinical, and too many occasions i've seen him he hasnt been.
If we got Kuqi, it would be great competition for places, and he's the sort of player (from what i've seen) who causes defences problems with his power. Get the wages fairly low and he'd be a great signing, got 14 goals in 17 in the German 2nd div last season, which is a level equivalent to league 1 easily.

While Barnes clearly hasn't recaptured his form from last season, or scored as many goals as he would like, yet, to say he hasn't created anything for Murray is simply wrong.

Off the top of my head I can think of two examples in the last two home games of brilliant work by Barnes to put Murray through one-on-one. The first was when we were 2-1 up against Rochdale and a superb return pass by Barnes put Murray through, who saw his shot saved. Second was the pass for the penalty on Tuesday. You are making Barnes sound a lot worse than he has actually been.

Glenn Murray would never do that, would he?!?!

Agreed. And he's only 21 ffs. Give him a chance!

I really like Barnesy. He seems like a good lad and he works his socks off. However, he is definitely not good enough to be first choice if we want to have a real crack at promotion this year. Cracking squad player, but not first choice for me.

I would be happy if we signed Kuqi, because he can add something different. He will be a target man aswell as a goal getter, and has a sublime celebration.

If he scored a goal or two (which he should at our level) the groundstaff would never have to flatten the pitch again
