The man who scored our first ever Premier League goal is still doing it on the regular, others have come and gone but our Pascal just keeps going

Given this thread is two years old now (what happened to the earlier one?), I've probably posted something similar before. I turned against Gross soon (half a season or so) after GP arrived, and thought he'd served us well but would contribute less as the squad evolved. This was heightened by the signing of Mooy, who is similar to Pascal in terms of technique and lack of speed, and I didn't like the pair starting together (ditto Pascal playing with Lallana in DCM at a later point) due to too many similarities.
I was wrong. If you trace our upturn to the Arsenal away game last season, Pascal's surge in form either coincided with that or preceded that. Much of that resulted from him playing a little further upfield from where he was. Now he's excelling wherever he plays. Along with Solly and Tross (avoid recency bias on assessing his season), he's challenging for PotS currently, although Ali Mac is ahead of all of them -- but not by that much.

He's still got a good chance of passing Maupay and Murray as top Premier League goalscorer. Unless Trossard gets there first.... but he doesn't score in the winter

What I loved about the goal aside from the stunning left footed technique to pop it over the keeper was the pace of the ball. Just slow enough to give the chasing defenders hope but just enough pace to get over the line ahead of them. Such a joy to see them chasing after that lost cause in the replay.
Not as Joyous as watching Tarkowski doing somersaults :ROFLMAO:

Absolute legend and probably my all-time favourite player. Value for money personified.

The fact some people wrote him off/wanted him out of the club last season is madness!

Gross is having a phenomenal season and has really stepped up in a midfield without Bissouma.

He only needs 2 more goals for his highest tally in his entire career.

Is there a regularly sung chant for him at all? Don't think I've ever heard one sung at home in the West. Seems ridiculous for one of our best players of the PL era.

And he is f***ing loving it, this season, isn't he?!?

Just to think, this time last season we were all convinced he was heading back to Germany to see out his days!
What a bunch of pricks we are!
Yep. Like everyone else, I've written shit on here sometimes over the years, pissed and sober, but the sober post I made last year saying he was past it and we should let him go at the end of the season was the biggest load of bollocks I've ever written in my life. I'm a prick.

Him outpacing the Everton defence to score this goal was some feat as well.
Was I the only one who thought he was going to fall over just before he dinked it over Pickford? He put so much effort into trying to outpace the hapless defenders it seemed like he was losing his footing.

It was all just to fool Pickford and Tarkowsky. All part of the plan to make them look hopeless.
