JHB's first tweet was a hate crime, ie mocking GT for being autistic. She realised she had crossed the line, deleted it, but not before many people had screenshotted it.
I would love to see some of these so-called journalists actually be arrested and charged for their hate tweets.

Wanting people arrested for words.

What other shitty regimes have had that mindset I wonder.

You'd fit in well with them.

I agree not all women are empowered but domestic violence is now something women can escape from and that's only in the last 50 years. Before that, women were beaten up regularly, the police wouldn't attend and women couldn't divorce or even leave the situation. The pill, and divorce laws have eased that problem for many women.
The world is aware of situations like Iran, and publishing the names of women arrested and under death warrant, helps to prevent the death penalty being carried out (see Amnesty) Iran doesn't like its sadistic regime being tweeted around the world.

Maybe schools should be more proactive in preventing bullying on school premises, but that's another debate.
I think it’s the same debate. Attitudes from the internet are very obvious in schools, a lot more so than in the past. We are doing our best but cannot solve the problem. It’s not just about bullying but about attitudes.

Makes me laugh that grown human beings are actually amused by the retort from Thunberg…. Very strange, both of them are utterly dislikable ego driven bellends.

I think that's a lie.

We were taught respect is earned and not given. Today's generation seem to think they should be instantly granted it.

I'm not fearful at all.

I'm Gen X, we grew up with the threat of a nuclear holocaust a real possibility thanks to the cold war.

We're the generation that thought we'd not make it to adulthood anyway if someone pushed the button so we grew up not giving a f***.

Today's generations are soft arse sooks.

We didn't have an awareness of climate issues, so we didn't have Greta Thunberg. We did have the women of Greenham Common, CND and Tony Benn.
Not everyone was nihilistic, though I admit I was in my youth. This involved generally being an oik and disrespectful to my parents, teachers, Police Officers, visiting football fans, home fans when I was visiting. My kids are far more civilised and respectful than I was, at every age they have been, if yours aren't, maybe it's their parents that are the problem?

You are aware of Putin? Ukraine?

All the young people in my family have done volunteer work, respect their elders, work for their rewards etc.

I think you must be hanging about with the wrong young people.

Interesting that you think young people should earn respect from adults but people of our generation should just expect it from young people.
Or perhaps they just don’t see you as worthy of their respect?

My children grew up near a tough area and went to the same school as those from that area. They were never allowed to run the streets. I agreed with them that they could go out, as long as they were going somewhere, not just out. I also wanted to know roughly when they would be home. It was mutual respect because we did exactly the same with them. I told them where I was going and when I expected to be home. Just a small example but it worked. Neither of them ever got into trouble.
Ok, that’s great. It’s not how it works here.

Technology doesn't change attitudes. It makes physical work easier.

It's almost like having to work hard for things gives you a less entitled view of the world.

Makes people more appreciative for what they have.

Those who have been given a lot without having to work for it produce the likes of Greta.

10 years ago, my brother only left 2 years ago and my cousins are in school now. The internet is definitely impactful on this generation than previous, in good ways and bad. But I find that more younger men are more respectful to women than the previous generation, the sexism may be in a more upfront childish way, but the underlying ability to speak out and the roots in which it came from are far better than those previously.
Ok. All I can do is report what I see and what teachers talk about in the staff room. If you don’t believe it then that’s fine.

An anecdote for you.
I am in my 70s. As my Dad was in the Navy, for about 18 months we lived in Portsmouth. I went to school about four streets away, not having to cross a main road, so walked there. I was about 6, and three boys grabbed hold of me, lit a match and held it to the hem of my coat. I was told to bring a shilling to school the next day, and if I didn't, they would set fire to me. I was terrified. My Dad was home so went to the school to sort it out. My Mum and I moved back to Brighton soon after. That was the 1950s

You think today's generation actually watch the news?

They are on Tik Tok or Instagram following some stupid trend or celebrity.

Putin has not even gotten to a tenth close to what went down during the Cold War.
Now you’re just taking utter nonsense.

Do you actually know any young people?

Yes, the majority of my generation get news, whether that is through actually physically watching the news or consuming it in other media forms, it seems to me that you are just confused about a new social media platform.

Why shouldn’t I mention it?

She refers to some idiots penis size.
It's not an expression I use but I have heard men say it many times when a stupid driver in a big car is speeding up the road. It's called compensation.

What you should be asking is why the idiot felt he had to boast about his 33 big cars to a teenage girl who is concerned about climate change. Why was he so bothered?
