Is there a “baying mob”?

There are some alleged victims speaking out. Do you mean them?

There are some people expressing the fact that they don’t like that sort of behaviour.
Do you mean them?
There’s alleged victims I’ll grant you, but there is also a huge 21st century bandwagon as well, which make the aforementioned baying mob.

Problem is, if he is guilty of anything he needs to be convicted in a court of law and not just the court of public opinion.

Slightly off topic, but perhaps relevant, has Russell Brand been charged by the CPS yet?

Non-news: Gregg Wallace. What a waste of time this story is.

Real news that gets scant coverage: Trump appoints billionaire investment banker Warren Stephens as US Ambassador to the UK, a 40% stakeholder in a dodgy payday loan company and big party donor guilty of making illegal party donations. He has no previous government experience.

Trump also appoints Charles Kushner - his son-in-law's dad - as ambassador to France when that guy has previously served time in jail for tax evasion and has been guilty of witness tampering. The bloke hired a prostitute and set a honey trap for his own brother-in-law.

These guys are not diplomats or experienced government officials, they are crooked businessmen.
The successful election of an adjudicated rapist in the Whitehouse will give many abusers hope that things can go back in time.

There's considerable cross over between the venn diagrams of Trump supporters and those that support the likes of Greg Wallace

I certainly agree that we must be careful when accusing people and the ensuing media circus.

Not sure about the Russell Brand thing.

My 2p worth, whole thing is absolutely absurd, yes, it is a little weird what he said and did, and yes, he should probably have gone a while ago as it isn’t acceptable doing that at work, however, was it really that bad?! probably not. It just feels like yet another which hunt and for once, I feel sorry for the hunted. ALOT of people banter this way, and most aren’t really fussed by it. It might not be entirely acceptable now, but that’s because people are wet flannels today.

We are coming to a point where you really cannot laugh and joke anymore.

If they didn’t like it, then just say, if they felt intimidated, then is that really him or should there be better safeguards?
So, what he did was not acceptable to the point that he should have lost his job, but you also think it 'probably' wasn't 'that bad'? You, essentially, think he should have been fired for being 'a little weird'?

Sometimes people change their minds over the course of a post, but to do it within a single clause of a sentence is some pretty impressive stuff there!

Yet you claim most people said it was just how he is.

Most reports seem to be along the lines of everyone on set or in the offices just fell silent when he did these alleged things.

Which strikes me as more that they knew he was out of order but too afraid to speak up.
You know I'm not talking about Greg don't you?

If he hadn't made his ridiculous Instagram post over the weekend, I doubt he'd have made the news cycle this week, and social media would have gotten bored and moved on pretty quickly.

We might not have had social media back when I was young, but newspapers really held a lot of power, there wasn't, and probably still isn't anything worse than a tabloid takedown. Illegal phone taping and surveillance, made up stories. Some celebrities who have done absolutely nothing wrong have had it a lot worse from our press. Social media is a lot of noise, but tabloid headlines ended careers on a whim.

My point exactly. The bbc have failed to act internally which has made this worse, also.

Still though, what he has done is, I don’t think, bad enough for people to call for his head.

So how bad does it need to be to get the boot?

Is anyone “calling for his head”?

A week or so of public humiliation might make him think on how he’s behaved.

And it will only be a week or so before something else comes along to occupy the permanently outraged.

It’s ok. We haven’t beheaded anyone in Britain since 1747.
