Having so many loan players at the club is a sign of a lack of ambition in my view. Why do we always seem to try to do things on the cheap? We may be PLR in terms of facilities but as far as the playing side is concerned I fear League 1 is on the horizon.

(In theory) you should be able to assemble a better squad with the same money than if you went out and brought these in players on perminent deals (less costs due to shorter term deals and small / no transfer or signing on fees, etc)

Indeed. Piss-poor management sums it up. We're paying top dollar prices for a team of average, mis-fits. When are we going to have a team and squad that we can be proud of?[/QUOTE]

Not for quite a while, I fear.

You do know this is an emergency loan?

Taking players Forest don't want and people wonder weather we are really in a relegation scrap or not.

I've no doubt that we are and I think we're in real trouble. How we have ended up with so many loanees in the squad is beyond me.

What kind of a dim-witted club signs 2 players on a month's loan, a short month as well due to the international break, then can't play them because we are playing their home clubs during that period.

Unbelievable!!!!

That's a good question to email The Head of Football Operations for an answer, let us know his reply will you please.

Out: El-Abd, Upson, Maksimenko.
In: Hughes.

Good work, Burke.

To be fair Upson left us for one last Prem payday, much as I'd like to have seen him stay, I'm not sure we would have been willing to compete with that.

El Abd wasn't in his finest form last season but I agree that he might have been retained as a squad player.

Maksimenko - well he might have had a chance but for the lengthy queue behind the other defenders, I can understand him moving on.

Hughes was a decent and experienced signing, it's just Murphy's law that he's injured just as we need him.

It's unfortunate that we have a series of injuries to defensive players. However I feel the situation has been exacerbated by Sami's wing back tactics exposing Greer and Dunk. They have been obliged to make far too many last ditch tackles for comfort, thereby risking more yellows/reds and increasing the likelihood of suspensions. We know he would die for the cause - but just imagine El Abd trying to cope........... Calderon gives 110% but also regularly attracts cards. I fear it is an added and largely self inflicted burden that could cost us over the course of this season.

Remember him from his time at Wolves. He has stuck in my mind more for his throw-ins, than anything else.

I remember him from his time at Colchester where he seemed to score a huge amount of goals from full back, dead ball specialist?

I think this is an OK move as an emergency but he must be knocking on a bit now and I'd prefer to see the younger legs of Ince replace Dunk/Greer.

What ?

Ha ha, yeah can't wait for DB's response to that one.

As if there aren't any other players available for 4 weeks.

What's more worrying for me is that clubs in our division are willing to loan us their cast offs. As they clearly do not see us as a threat .

Whilst I (sort of) agree, I feel the need to point out that Stephen Warn was a cast-off loanee from a League One team.

Was that more of a new manager and getting old school and high wages off the books ?

As shot term loan cover, covering us at centre half and right back if required i am quite happy with this.

Not sure there is anything better available.
