Out: El-Abd, Upson, Maksimenko.
In: Hughes.

Good work, Burke.

How many games did Maksimenko and El-Abd play for us last season?
- El-Abd wanted to go because he wanted 1st team football so if we had replaced him last season when he left, it would have been with someone else who would sit on the bench at best and is that a good use of resources? and Maksimenko is out on loan

because he's injured whilst playing on loan in Holland.....

I didn't literally mean we should try and bring back Maksimenko, I was making the point that having shipped out three WE HAVEN'T GOT ENOUGH FVCKING CENTRE-BACKS!

Having so many loan players at the club is a sign of a lack of ambition in my view. Why do we always seem to try to do things on the cheap? We may be PLR in terms of facilities but as far as the playing side is concerned I fear League 1 is on the horizon.

Shows me our board are more reactive than pro-active

Of course it is reactive, and that is good in this situation I think - Hughes injured, Greer and Dunk only recognised centre halves and I am sure Greer is a card away from a suspension.. Mind you, I think Ince could be a good option at centre half, especially when we play with so many forward.

Al Habsi can't play tonight, and presumably E Bennett can't play against Norwich, so that only leaves the Blackburn and Fulham games where we might have too many loanees to select them all if we get a 6th one in,

What kind of a dim-witted club signs 2 players on a month's loan, a short month as well due to the international break, then can't play them because we are playing their home clubs during that period.

Unbelievable!!!!

Indeed. Piss-poor management sums it up. We're paying top dollar prices for a team of average, mis-fits. When are we going to have a team and squad that we can be proud of?

why not look at it as a chance to give new players a prolonged trial?

From what I remember when we've played against him, he's a bit of a donkey and very dirty. Could stick him upfront for a bit of presence though.

Isn't the only way we can sign players at the moment is a) on loan or b) if they are out of contract??

The club seem damned if they do and damned if they don't at the moment. I'm not suggesting for a second we're going to go out and spunk a ton of money in January but moaning that signing loan players lacks ambition when it's the only way we can get players to cover short term issues seems a little harsh on the club in my eyes.

Dont think we "shipped" out Upson... wasn;t his contract up and he had the chance to go and play Premier League.. he has also been injured nearly the whole of that time.. There were plenty on here that also loved El-Abd but knew he was struggling so again, understand why he was shipped out. That said, I am concerned like you that we haven't got another ready-made replacement in the squad.

Greer & Dunk have 4 yellows so could possibly both be suspended at the same time. Calderon & Ince can play CB and have done.

How could the club have allowed our players to get yellow cards and then injure our other recognised CB? Shocking organisation, imo.
