Exactly this. Her share of the vote is going to increase, and I reckon the green vote in neighbouring wards will too. HB&B campaining for the Tories is a trivial but amusing string to her bow, and she can only hope (in vain) that someone as fuckwitted can "assist" the Labour campaign in the same way.

How does the proposed boundary changes affect the vote ?

On a more serious note if you were a business thinking of investing in the city, and creating a large number of jobs, would the farce that we are seeing from this Green administration make you confident enough to stay looking at this city?

I wonder if the club will get the same amount of grief from Tory Adur in relation to the proposed training ground.

I think we need to bring this thread back to the main issue at hand I.e. the withdrawal of the papers in relation to the Falmer School site.

Are the club to blame, or the Greens to blame for it?

What grief?

It has been pretty difficult to build anything in Brighton for many decades. How long did the Brighton Station site run for and who was in power during all those years?
Good question. The saga of the Station site redevelopment went back to the early 1970s. Two councils were involved initially - East Sussex County Council and Brighton Borough Council. From 1997, it became an issue for Brighton & Hove Council. And then there were the railway interests. British Rail (Southern Region) and the British Railways Property Board. Then Network SouthEast and the British Railways Property Board. Then Railtrack and the British Railways Property Board. And finally just the British Railways Property Board.

And don't forget the most important players in the game ... the developers who wanted to talk about actually building something on the site. Far too many of them for me to remember.

As for the "who was in power?" question ... far too complicated to answer. Are you talking about local councils? Which ones? Or national governments? Or the civil service? Or the railways? To be honest, I'm surprised that the site has been developed at all.

Or the council officers who negotiated an agreement with the Club, without checking whether the councillors agreed with the terms?

Hmm and now this:

From @warrenmorgan (Labour councillour for East Brighton)

"Greens have confirmed at Cabinet that they do not intend to honour the parking agreement enabling extra capacity at the Amex #bhafc"

Is this old or new news? Is this the parking agreement Kitcat (and a post on here) say was torn up because of BACA? Or have the Greens scuppered a replacement scheme? Have I just started another 17 pages? Can cats really see at night? Why does Justin Beiber exist? Is cheese better on Wednesdays?

Fuckin' twitter. I'm confused again.

You make a reasonable point, but one has to assume the proposal that was agreed with the previous administration is the one that has been pulled by the Greens. Thus the officers recommendations should be the same.

And if the above is correct then clearly the decision to pull was a political one, not a legal one.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM: BILL RANDALL - LEADER OF BRIGHTON & HOVE CITY COUNCIL & MARTIN PERRY - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION FOOTBALL CLUB

In a joint statement, Bill Randall, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, and Martin Perry, Chief Executive of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club have affirmed the ongoing relationship between the two organisations.

"The council and the football club want the Albion to continue to flourish, bring Premiership football to Brighton and Hove, sustain and develop its highly successful community work, to expand the stadium by 8,000 more seats and create even more jobs. We are working together to achieve these goals.

We have agreed that a travel survey for a 30,000-seater stadium will be produced by independent consultants for the Stadium Transport Management Group and funded by the Albion. The terms of reference will be produced jointly by the club and the council.

As part of that work the consultants will consider the coherent provision of travel options for fans walking or cycling to the ground, using buses or trains and those using their cars. Ways of improving bus and car flow and lessening the impact of parking in local areas, particularly in Moulsecoomb and Coldean, will also be considered.

The Albion has successfully encouraged fans to use public transport, and the fans have responded. More than two thirds of them travel to and from the ground by public transport on match days, which is about three times the average for other football league grounds. Together we want to build on this success to make it even easier for fans to get to and from the Amex.

Some work is already in hand. Next week, for instance, the council is talking to the Department of Transport to discuss funding for bus priority measures in the Lewes Road, which could greatly help bus flow on match days.

The council and the club are also looking at options for the demolition of the old Falmer School building and the provision of temporary accommodation for The Bridge Community Project, which is part of the fabric of East Brighton. Together we will also consider the long-term future of the Falmer Retained Land and find a permanent home for The Bridge. This is a vital piece of cooperative work for the football club and the city."

There are conflicting tweets on Twitter , the agreement on parking wont be honoured and a joint statement from the council and the club saying the Greens are committed. Argus is now reporting the latter.

The joint statement is official, so let's go with that.
