So to get on this list you have to be a number one, implying that being number one has some kind of value. And then they leave Bryan Adams out of the top 100 despite it being number one for 16 weeks in a row. I don't see the logic.

And the Pet Shop Boys? How can anyone think that is any better than most of the rest. It's a dirge.

I didn't think Wonderwall ever made it to number 1 although it was their biggest selling single.

Just had a glance at wikipedia and it suggests Robson & Jerome stopped it.
Apparently 3rd biggest selling single in the uk not to get to number 1.

I'd want to make a case for the Beatles' Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane double A-side being the best single never to make the UK number one - kept off the top by Engelbert Humperdinck's 'Release Me' (just in case anyone thinks the 1960s was an unbroken golden age of music).
