The last time England won in Australia? We normally get thrashed when we visit there.

England's World Cup victory in 1966..... nothing compares or comes close.
Bobby Moore....

Nb I think that Torville and should be in the list. It was in the Olympics which makes it officially a sport . There scores were absolutely perfect too

Bob Willis saying it was a greater innings than Botham's 1981 149* ... I'll take his judgement.

My favourite outlier in such conversations is:-

Men 4 x400 Relay win - Tokyo World Championships 1991.

Lennox Lewis effectively beating Holyfield twice in 1999 to win the undisputed heavyweight championship, or his 2002 demolition of Mike Tyson which cemented his place as the best fighter of that era and one of the all time greats.

Fully agree that it was one of the greatest English / British sporting moments ever. Just a shame it wasn't available on terrestial TV. I heard the final few overs on the radio as I happened to be in the car on my own and it was gripping stuff. My sports-mad kids, however, don't even know it happened and most likely never will, or will only have a passing interest measured in nano-seconds.

Non-terrestial TV coverage will strangle cricket in this country all the while heroics like today are not freely available for all to watch and marvel in. Shame.
You're lucky to have it in the car - on most car radios it isn't available!
