You're right. I withdraw my nomination of the Pistols. I bought New Rose and saw the Damned many more times than the Pistols. That whole first album was amazing. Apparently, it was recorded live and Stiff had plied them with beer and cider beforehand, so it was much rawer than the Pistols would be getting on EMIiiiii. And crucially, being on a small label, quicker to release.
