Here's a cracking video of cage diving with Great Whites. It's in Guadalupe, Mexico, not Cornwall.

Good stuff, thanks for that! I love the 4th most viewed video by comparison - did you notice "Cuttle fish under the Palace Pier, Brighton......" Not quite in the same league is it?! :falmer:

A 3 metres* long Mako Shark, Isurus oxyrinchus, (the consensus now seems that it is a Porbeagle) was caught three miles off Brighton by cod fishermen and brought into Monteum Fish Market at nearby Shoreham-by-Sea. The shark weighed 172 kg (378 lb). The largest shark normally caught in Sussex seas is the Tope, Galeorhinus galeus, and then only occasionally. Rarely Porbeagle Sharks, Lamna nasus, have even been caught, but this is my first report of a Mako.

I remember that now you've mentioned it. Mako's rarely found this far up the channel so doesn't surprise me it ended up being 'Jaw's cousin', Mr Porbeagle.

Shark sighting off Swanage sparks 'Jaws' fears From Bournemouth Echo)

Summer's here and it's time to re-run this annual story; the local Dorset Echo's beaten the National Daily Mirror or Sun by the looks of it

Anyway, enjoy the above link (looks like a Barsking Shark to me.....but that's because it is :lolol:) and expect similar stories throughout the summer once Big Brother takes over as 'news' in parliament's absence.....

I read somewhere that most shark attacks that are attributed to Great Whites are actually done by the far more aggressive Tiger Sharks.
That said, my ambition is to go cage diving with them - South Africa has a couple of places that do it; I was told the other day that one of the places is developing a plexiglass "cage" that virtually disappears underwater.
