I feel sure he'll be approached if/when Southgate leaves.

I’m certain he’ll be the England manager one day; his skill set seems perfect for the job.

Is it me or does that table make no sense? Aston Villa have a higher net spend than us so we're not even 6th! Doesn't include the £50m for BW which would give us a net spend over 5 years of £29.5m which would put us below West Ham and Wolves. That's assuming there aren't anymore errors in the figures, either for us or other teams.

I agree in the main. My only question over a manager with Potter’s style of playing being successful in an international job is, would he have the time with his players to implement that style successfully?

I get where you’re coming from. But this is probably the same for all international teams which have a style; the recent Spain and Germany WC winning teams come to mind. Also, he’ll be working with elite players who, in theory, should be more adaptable. Also, Potter’s style won’t be alien to any Man City or Liverpool players and Ben White and Webster will slot straight in. He’ll have his work cut out trying to retrain Pickford though.

Those numbers are way behind, excluding for example the White sale last summer.

One day in the distant future maybe but I think it's unlikely that he's anywhere near ready to step down to a part time job

Very good season in the end. Brilliant start and finish. Impressive recovery from a wobble that was so shit that even Swansman thought his time might be up in the summer.

In a weird way I think that bad run may be a good thing as it has reigned people in from the hyperbole a bit. He's a good young manager with some flaws at home v a deep defence) and some excellent and fairly unique attributes (tactically flexible, amazing bravery away). Hopefully more progress next year unless Spurs really do come knocking. With 5 subs no reason to think a cup run or Europe couldn't be a realistic possibility

Just spent an entertaining bit of time looking back on this.
Icy Gull and Bold Seagull with interesting initial posts on it :)

My reaction to him signing was a bit more positive than I was over the next two seasons.

Classic Bloom. Shit or bust. I’m well excited. It literally cannot have got any duller than the last 5 months

But, in the end, I think he's united us all (except when junior is on a wind up) to the ways of the Potter. It's been a tremendous season. A little frustrating at home at times, but I can remember when the results weren't coming I was asked what would get me back on side and it was turning more of the games with chances into three points, competing with other clubs with around 30k home crowds and provincial fan bases (Wolves, Stains, Leicester) and aiming for 50 points. We've done all that while still playing good football and seeing players like Sanchez and Caicedo develop at a frightening speed.

Count me in for the Church of Potter. Anyone want to buy a horse?

Not even sure it’s entirely down to it being a flaw……..it’s poss a huge sign of respect shown by opposing teams that they can’t do anything other than sit against us (particularly at the Amex) and that he’s not got the ‘gifted genius’ in the squad that is consistently able to unlock a low block. It’s looked a lot better since Welbeck has had a run of games….he’s very clever.

Had me worried there, I had to look back at what I wrote. I had never heard of him so it was a reasonable first reaction

I have never been one to jump in with both feet.

I wondered what would of happened if we had say won one and drew one during the dodgy period would Potter still have tweaked the system and dropped Maupay I wonder. He kind of got forced to try something new as nothing was working so maybe as you say the bad run was a good thing.

Also fitness - Mwepu’s brief return , Moder’s injury, Dunk’s recovery (and conversely Webster being out) all forced his hand in the last month or so.
(Maupay don’t forget started v Saints but it was Welbeck who shone in that match)

2nd lowest paid manager in the league, hope he gets a new deal this off-season.

I'll Eden a guess his bonuses are rather tasty.

There may even be points/position pay rise triggers coming his way.

Well, if it's as simple as waiting until you couldn't have done anything else and you're forced into making changes that win games, we'd probably all be earning the money Potter is, wouldn't we

Anyone else notice that the poor run coincided with the loss of Webster and Dunk and Bissouma's loss of form ???
