Really the ONLY useful information he ever gives us are injury updates in these interviews. Perhaps he’s cagey but more likely the questions are completely asinine.

Yes how stupid of Southampton not not sack their manager when their home record was poor and they conceded 9 in a game. Regretting that now.

I normally agree with 90% of posts by Justice but...

Hang on. No. No, most of them are idiotic.

As you were. :cheery:

If you listened to the 30 min interview last week on R5 you'll realise he treats the press conference in much the same way a boxer treats the pre match check of the gum shield. With a sad sigh and a platitude. Bless him. :lolol:

Why is everyone comparing us to Southampton they have a far superior squad and not scared to invest in quality such as Ings

My main concern week after week we don’t improve let’s throw in conceding at set plays for an example. If we have an edge first half most managers are out thinking GP and often have the second half in the bag.

Start of the season we had some impressive performances I can’t argue with that unfortunately we have been worked out and GP doesn’t seem to have a reply at the moment.

Thought it was obvious first half against Saints Connolly/Welbeck clearly wasn’t working and should of made the change much earlier. Lamptey was being snuffed out the game again did nothing to combat this.

Southampton pressed us really high up the pitch and Ryan still tries to play out the back with some awful passes it clearly wasn’t working again nothing changed.

I might be alone in my thinking that a football manager is paid to set the team up tactically, make changes when it’s not working and ultimately win a game of football

Summary. Italics is what Potter is thinking.

- Gets a lot of questions about PSG - Istanbul Bahaikbakaspor (or whatever). Obvious answers.

- Gets a question about the VAR decision against March and for the first time in 8 years he says out loud that a decision was incorrect (shite) but then says it was not only the ref getting things wrong - "coaches gets things wrong and so does the players... even journalists occasionally
(**** you), you know, we're all human beings, that how it is".

- Would prefer to focus on the bad performance and improve that instead of thinking too much about the penalty.

- Journo asks about Lamptey, who made his debut against Leicester in the summer. Potter said it was a little bit nerve wrecking to give him the chance when they were very much in a relegation battle but they believed in him
(and lets face it, Montoya was shite).

- Journo asks about the rumour about Duffy returning in January, Potter says "No, its a season long loan"
(mate, how many centre backs do you think I can juggle?).

- Asked about the details of the poor performance against Saints, Potter says "I analyse myself first, I think I could do better as well". Journalist then asks if its easier to deal with a loss and get back if you create chances rather than if you dont create anything at all, Potter does not reply "yes, you idiot"
(yes, you idiot).

- Gets a question about Leicester, says they are a good team.

- Game comes too soon for Lallana, other than that no "fresh injuries".

- Journo says Schmeichel got a habit of saving penalties against Brighton, says (I think, its a bit difficult to hear) that penalties is not really something we're good at and that the players have been practising but that it is difficult to replicate match situations. Also says "if we gets one, lets hope its an obvious and clear one"
(**** VAR and **** VAR ****ing us over).

- Journo asks if Maupay would have taken it if he was on the pitch, Potter says that "no, Pascal has scored the last two ones and deserve that responsibility"
(nopes mate, the Maup will be chillin' with them penalties for a while yo).

- Journo says the team got an impressive nine different goal scorers this season and asks if its time for the centre backs to join in on that, Potter replies that they had a few chances against Liverpool and Saints and then goes to say "if we can increase the goals from the guys on the top of the pitch, that also helps"
(yeye centre backs this and that but the blokes up front arent really winning any top scorer titles are they)

- Says that Pröpper and Macallister has been training all week and that they are "closer to the squad".

- Journo asks if Leicester is a free hit as they are playing Fulham and Sheffield after that, Potter says "I think your make a mistake if you think in those terms"
(you are a complete idiot bro, complete idiot, its amazing that you are able to get out of the bed in the mornings you lazy-brained dumb ****ing wanker, in a different situation I would strangle your golden retriever doing the thinking for ya and deciding what questions you ask because no human being could be this ****ing dumb) and goes on to say that every game is an opportunity to win.

- Same journo then, apparently surprised by Potters answer, asking again to clarify that the Leicester game is as important as the games after that and Potter confirms this to be the case
(... <- these dots are in italics).

- Gets a question if he believes that the January transfer window is going to be a busy one for Brighton. Potter says the squad is strong but that in every transfer window they have a responsibility to look if they can strengthen or make adjustements but that the January transfer window is a notoriously difficult market (
I have a thing or two in mind but its not easy).

I like your take on GP’s thoughts Swanny, and think you’re largely correct.

However.. one of my emerging gripes with Graham is that does go into “PR mode” a bit too much. Why can’t he express some of his genuine thoughts you think? Ok, in a polite manner of course.

This is something I noticed in the 5 live special last week. He was a real character, engaging stories, the asked about Saints and he went into “GP PR mode”.

It’s not a comparison with Southampton, it’s a comparison with a bad run of results doesn’t equate to a bad manager or team. Unless someone simply doesn’t watch the games, or has no appreciation of what goes on in a game other than the final result, you can’t have missed our performances generally have been very good, exciting, on the front foot, trying to take the game to the opposition - exactly what TB ordered.

However there is no action without a reaction. A transformation of what was appalling away form and performances against the big sides does appear to have come at a cost of our solidity defending set pieces in particular.

And surely no one can tell me Potter isn’t a manager who brings subs on early and looks to change games!?

Southampton wasn’t a great performance by any stretch, but we were in it up until the VAR penalty. We were playing poorly but still creating moments and very much in the game.

We got our highest PL points total last season, we’re 4 points off the relegation zone and going along at pretty much 1ppg. His job is not under threat other than from a few fans who can’t see the improvements he has bought to our playing style. The comparison isn’t with Southampton at all, it’s with sticking with a manager where you can see a process is well under way with better things to come. In my opinion. Like.

Are you seriously comparing Welbeck with Ings? Welbeck generally has the first touch of a shire horse:)

Personally thought Slaven Bilic and Ralph H had GP’s number not the other way round. Of course football is all about opinions and that’s why we all love the game. Interesting to see how it all pans out, when Potter had a dig at the home fans last season he was obviously feeling the pressure, lockdown was his saving grace last season looking forward to seeing how he copes this season when the going gets tougher than it is now.

It’s not my job to chose a manager although if I did I would want someone who toughened this lot up a bit and got a bit of fight into them. At the moment the one player IMO who looks like he wants to win is AJ when he comes on can’t really say that about the rest except maybe Dunk at times.

My perception of the players not giving it everything is the fact we never throw the kitchen sink at a team in the last 5-10 minutes if we need something which is most games, it’s generally the other way round as I say lack of fight.

yeah, i am. two sicknotes that wouldn't consider playing for a provincial club if there was another option

so you're saying biss' body language says loser to you?

i would prefer gpott to the two you mention, i genuinely think we are witnessing the beginning of an epoch,

it's helpful if people get behind the club, team and manager

I'm not a fan of journalists doing a poor job. There's a difference.

To be fair, if those are the questions that were asked, they are f****** s*** journalists

Not necessarily, at all. Sometimes the most basic questions get the most newsworthy responses. That's why journalists ask them

I really dont care about what is "newsworthy", I care about what is interesting. In the words of Lou Reed: "Journalists are the lowest form of life. Especially the English." Only interested in headlines and scandals and other sensationalist bullshit. Watch any pre-game press conference from the Eredivisie or Bundesliga and it takes two minutes to discover the difference. The "do you think the Leicester game is a free hit?" question would make you look like a moron in some places, here its just one in a row of dumb or meaningless questions.
