Indeed.

The hilarity of checking in to a pub under the names Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse.

Oh how they must have guffawed.

The argus actually had some charts in a recent article but I cant find it now.

Have a photo on phone though and it tracked acute respiratory infection ( ARI ) such as flu etc and then more specifically Covid.

The chart said Educational settings top , care homes + workplace settings then take up the majority

Prison , food outlet / restaurant / other were very small numbers on the chart.

Not relating to this thread but again disproves the 10pm curfew as nonsense

Probably all this is for another topic though.

for this thread ...............Petition signed and circulated though

its true there are very few infections originating from leisure settings. there is no firm science to support 10pm closing, its for the visuals, not a good look bar fulls of youth getting pissed up, while telling people they cant meet in groups of more than 6.

however, what happens if there is an increase to infections for leisure, because we open all hours, with scant regard for social distancing? because that is the point of late night socialising after all. we'll have closing of pubs and so on until they are safe again. i'd rather have sensible pub opening than the inevitable closures.

Or Lionel Messi. Apparently he was in the Waterside in Shoreham a couple of weeks ago and there was me thinking he had decided to stay at Barca for another season.

I wont be signing. Its about time the PL in particular stopped wineing about how much they are losing whilst at the same time spending £200m plus on players and paying obscene sslaries to players. If we are all in this together whete os the offer from the PL to help the lower leagues survive?

Covered on LBC today in the Shelagh Fogarty show. Her guest was a 'Vector Biologist' from Keele University. They had a close look at why this summer's semi-lockdown restrictions in the Manchester conurbation in particular, have failed, the lack of success doesn't make sense. The suspicion is that large portions of the population have in essence ignored the law and rules, for example, by suppling fake contact details in track'n'trace at restaurants and pubs.

A sizeable chunk of Brits seem determined never to be told what to do in life. It's funny old country!

The Cummings effect. (Other names are available - Stanley Johnson for example)

Another 14,000 cases today, it won't happen anytime soon. We'll have to wait till the spring I reckon

Reduced attendances have proved possible in Germany, in areas where infection rates are low. Obviously it's early days yet but that seems sensible to me.

I did sign the petition.

Whatever the rights and wrongs for football with 14k new cases a day there is no way that the govt will relax rules anywhere. How on earth could the allow crowds in places like Liverpool or Manchester where case numbers are off the scale? For the sake of a level playing field (pun intended) crowds would have to be allowed at all PL grounds (albeit different sizes.)

I think it’s a trait of the British. We led the way in football violence, people asking others to quieten down or stop vandalising things get their faces rearranged, shop and emergency workers long seen as punchbags, ********s threatening to open doors mid flight.

A minority, but we’ve been always been world class in thuggery and two fingers to community rules.

If you look at where the people signing this petition live, it's clear that it's not the fans of the bigger clubs like ours that are so interested - instead it's the smaller clubs, larger non-league and League's 1 and 2 especially.

Letting these clubs manage a gradual re-introduction of people, maybe working up from the local clubs that already are allowing small crowds in, would be a way to start.

Most of the other countries in Europe are allowing some people into mid-size matches - not lots, usually lower than 30% capacity and I think we should do that too in England with the smaller clubs.

At least Albion spent less than they received in this transfer window so far.

Not sure that you can blame the people for the unmitigated shambles that is track and trace...

Boris and his chums have to own that one I'm afraid.

Absolutely.

Until there is a decent system that everyone uses without worrying about their Titter account being compromised then we're fooked for a long while.

Signed.

All the while we’re told a vaccine could be 6 months, a year away etc, we’ve got to find a better way of living with the virus in as normal a way as possible for the mental and economic health of this country.

Totally agree. Problem is the lack of trust the population has in this country for those in authority. That's not a party political problem either both parties have become so divorced from their electorate that significant portions of the population don't trust them or the instruments of government to use the info gleaned for COVID tracking not to be used for other purposes. To be honest neither do I although the threat of COVID to the country overcame that particular fear in my case.
