quite willing to help you friend...just donate all your alcohol to the seagull on the wing benevolent fund....and you will be cured....bless you my son.if you drink alcohol, stop as that is a cause of gout.
Like I said, my quacks are a waste of space! I have never really been ill until the gout started... I then developed some severe stomach aches and they blamed that on beer until a scan revealed gallstones. That has now been sorted thank Christ as that was also horrendous!
When I ring the quacks all they say is that we have no one available to see you today and can you ring and try again tomorrow or make an appt for sometime next week. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr fecking useless tossers!
This was my most recent attack, 3 weeks ago! Took 2 courses of steroids to tame... It was a bitch I'll tell ya:

My right knee!
Specialist thinks that I have a chronic liver disease which is causing the attacks... I'm due to get my results in a couple of weeks.
None of the usual medications work for me so there must be an underlying problem.
Hope you get sorted soon muzzy x x
I had it in both knees and was getting attacks for years until I got to see a rheumatologist, she prescribed alopurinal, I've taken 200mg a day for 1 1/2 years and never had an attack since.
I guess you've tried all the usual and seen the right specialists? just goes to show that some gout cures work for some and not others. I hope you find your cure soon mate as I know how miserable it can be, good luck.
Chris, Have great sympathy with you mate, having suffered for 20 years on and off in hands and big toe. Most painful thing in the world. Took me years to find out the cause and I am still not sure if i have cracked it but I have not had a bad attack for about three years. Causes are different for each individual. I stopped drinking larger and changed to bitter, and that helped don't ask me why. The main reason for attacks appeared to be eating over ripe fruit especially strawberries. Drink plenty of water 4 litres a day, flushes system out and stops the build up of uric acid. I am also on alopurinal 500gms every day. As others have mentioned cherries/cherry juice are good for reducing attacks. Hope pain goes soon.Cheers mate... I have been on allpurinal for 4 years 600mg per day and taken diclofenac, dicoflex and colchicine for attacks and they just don't work ... I'm under the rhuematologist now and very glad to be at last... He gave me a very thorough examination, 2 hours worth of x-rays, blood tests and all sorts. I had some fluid taken from my knee as I was recovering from an attack at the time. He put me on the steroids which I had to take 2 courses (1st one didn't clear it)... I'm Still in some discomfort now but nothing like I was and hopefully upon diagnosis there will be some sort of conclusion.
I am very careful with my diet and I have stopped alcohol.. I take regular excersize and according to the specialist I am of normal weight... I need answers and fast!
I NEVER want to suffer THAT pain again.. I genuinely considered suicide... Amputation without anesthetic would have been less painfull I swear!
