Elding was sent on with instruction to rile Greer of that I am sure having watched his actions.
The way I saw it was that the 9 ran into GG once then backed off and did it again.....GG put his arms up to protect himself the guy ran into him and then fell to the floor like a dirty cheating little wanker....a very harsh red despite the fact that the ball wasnt even in the air....terrible officiating.
I sit in the north stand L block so the incident was right in front of us. GG clearly elbowed him (after provocation) after the free kick had been taken. I hoped the ref hadn't seen it, but........
Spot on. Greer's arms didnt move out and away from his body towards the player. All he did was protect himself from getting headbutted by the guy.
if that is the case surely an appeal is warranted....?
I'll probably be proved wrong, but me and the others around me, saw it that Elding had clearly been sent on to get someone sent off. He sprinted straight across to Greer, kept niggling away when the ref wasnt looking, and when the ref looked, got hold of Greers shirt and stuck his head in his face/chest. Looked to me as if Greer simply tried to shrug him off, but because the lino (who gave it) could only see the back of Elding, it looked as if he floored him.
Sent off twice in nine years apparently. Both in his last two league games
